 Hey folks,

Just uploaded my first hak pack since 2009.

Critique/ tips/ suggestions for subsequent packs would be appreciated.  Till then, enjoy the Dragon Pack Volume 1!

Without actually going to the vault - - - what is in your dragon pack?

Looks sweet! I saw chinese characters on the side of your dragon crossbow. If you are into creating Oriental Adventure style clothing/weapons/heads please let me know.

 Morbane: The Dragon Pack includes:

1) Dragon Breastplate armor
2) Scaled jacket (female only)
3) Dragonbolt Crossbow (crossbow with a dragon head carved into the front,  a scope, and a semi-auto reloading mechanism with an ammo box)
4) Splintmail armor set

Banshe: Thanks! Haha, funny thing is the test character holding the crossbow uses only  default NWN 2 armor and helmet sets (though the katana scabard is a modified version of another sword scabbard on the vault), but yes, I did intend to do some more oriental styled stuff. Kara Tur is such an unfortunately unloved location! :(
Got something specific in mind?

Great!

Is there any chance of getting those armours converted for other races? I don't know how easy that is but there are a lot of cool armour sets I don't feel I can give to players because dwarves could try and put them on.

Incidentally, check out our little Oriental Adventures group. I for one haven't really been doing any building recently but it's a good place to collect OA resources (in fact I'll link to your hakpak from there).

Oh! I also notice from your other submission, the elven armour, that it was you who was working on those cool polearms (guan daos, though they look like good naginata to me). Did you get any further with those?

That would be awesome. The Fred already linked to our group where there is a wanted "weapons" list. Other than that, I would love some plain (tintable) chinese clothes (perhaps a tweaked monk outfit), the straw circular hat and "moon gates" in Nytir's set.

If you are interested, I can collect some reference shots for you. :)

Fred: Unfortunately, I will most likely need to make a new batch for the dwarves, orcs and gnomes. Unlike the humanoids (Humans, elves, aasimar, tieflings, halflings and yuan ti), their model types are completely different, thus why even their default armor looks radically different from everyone else's in most cases. Having said that, I do intend to give them some attention soon, though to be frank, their a little lower on my priority list (nothing against such pc's!!!! I simply have other ideas in my head right now!)

Regarding the naginata/ gun dao from the elven pack; yes, I will finally be making a proper version, from scratch. The ones in those screenshots were a little experiment, and did not look good in game for obvious reasons (they were parts that were simply slammed together).

Banshe: Circular straw hat is definetly something I would do, yes. That and the Dragonbolt are actually central to the design of a character I drafted a while ago :P. I'm not so sure how many "clothing" things I'll be doing besides that however, but i'll let you know if anything comes up in the pipeline.

Yes to reference! I like reference! Will thank you much for them! :D

And thanks to you both for the group link. Looks great, will definitively swing by.

Cool! Every bit helps. The hat you chose for your dragon crossbow warriors is very close to the straw hat already. The picture of the "peasant hat" on this page fits the bill:

http://www.asianidea...bamboohats.html

There is something called a Dragon Cap on that page for you too. ;)

I will look for some clothing pics in case you decide to head in that direction.

That's great to hear. I found a few of the MWM Spear Pack make good naginata, but more models are always welcome! I can see that dwarf etc models aren't a priority, it's just annoying since I feel I can't create player armour with the awesome models people produce. With things like the samurai armour in particular that's a pain, but if whole new models have to be made I guess there's no real way of gettign around it.

Eh... its not really a matter of making a new model so much as redrawing the textures for their body types.

Good news is that the dragon breastplate MIGHT be a little easier to convert than I thought... admin over at Beldin did a quick test to see if it converted well. Stretched it like heck, but with a little tweaking, it may be possible. If I can make it look right, i'll add an update to the Dragon Pack.

Btw heads up; Naginata model is ready, just holding off the release till I have some more weapons and armor ready.

This is really great work, and great to hear you're doing more. :)

Would it be possible to create some medieval helmets? It would be really cool to see some classic medieval helmets, such as a nasal helmet (with chainmail coif beneath perhaps?), great helm, kettle hat (chainmail coif)

Great helm : www.armae.com/Photos/Casques/Moyen-age/121PDHL257A.jpg , www.armae.com/Photos/Casques/Moyen-age/121PSHL254.jpg

Deserk: Thanks, glad you like it!

The Great Helm is already available in the Dark Armory pack.Might want to check it out, it has a lot of pretty sweet stuff.

Regarding the other helms... uh.... the only thing I can say at this point is "maybe", because it looks like they would require stuff i'm not sure how to make yet (basically, whats needed to make sure the chain links move properly when the head turns or tilts)(pretty new at this whole thing here).I'll certainly take a look at some point, because it would be cool to have stuff like that..

I'd ask for more cultures. Assuming these don't exist ( i am sure some of these things were done at some point ). Regardless of what i ask for, make sure you enjoy what you are implementing, i'd just want to throw out ideas so if the fancy hits you, what you do actually fills a void which we desperately need to fill.

Note the areas noted are inside Abeir Toril and you'd routinely see distant travellers in big cities like water deep wearing all of the following. ( even more, the mulhorandi people came from our realities egypt per official lore, and brought the egyptian gods with them )
Eskimo hoods. ( Tuigan, and parkas )
Chinese Peasant caps ( as per stereo types - kara tur )
Tribal masks ( Chult )
Arabian turbans ( al qadim AND the elemental planes, need these for good jinn )
Aztec panther and eagle helms ( maztica )
Mongol horseman outfits and appearances ( going to be needed a lot for horses )
Samurai and ninja outfits ( to be used by those choosing said classes )

And just for variety
Top Hat ( i picture a putting these on skeletons inside mordenkainens mansion for evil players )
Wizard cone cap ( stereo type for merlin, can be white or with stars and moons, i can do textures for it actually once we have a working model )
Dunce cap ( same as cone cap but floppy, as you see in smurfs and quite a few other places )
Chefs hat ( again similar but with a poof at the top, for that big orc in the kitchen )
3 Piece Suite ( OOTS #368 )
Period costumes - anything goes, victorian, greek, spartan, arabian ( i dream of jenie to lawrence of arabia )

Mostly those just above are for crazy ideas which are not totally inside faerun, but which can add value if used judiciously, and use hacker types can retexture what you've done for a lot of different purposes.

Oh and i'd really like a disk creature appearance so i can implement tensers floating disk.

We already have straw hats and things but "peasant caps" would be pretty cool. Obviously I'd be all over Samurai and ninja outfits, though as I said before they need to be for all races, really (there is already some cool samurai armour but it's humans-only, I think). Some of those others would be pretty neat too, though personally the more oriental stuff the better as far as my own currect project is going.

Great news on the naginata, btw!

painfuldungeoneternal: The peasant hats/ ashigaru style helms are definetly in the pipeline. I didn't really plan on going much further than those, but some of the stuff you mentioned does actually sound like fun, so I make give them a thought.

The top had, wizards hat and turbans are available in ACME's Assault and Hattery packs, both of which have a ton of amazing helms (used some of them in my armor sets preview shots, and even intend to design a suit for some of that stuff specifically).

Horse stuff! Good god we need horses and the like! Why does nearly every fantasy game skip out on this?!?! *rants*

...erm...anyway....

Fred; the Samurai armor is actually pretty easy to convert into elven and halfling usable sets with the MDB cloner, again, because their body type are basically the same, so that ground is more or less covered.

Quick little update on whats going into the next pack;

Trident (done)
Naginata (done)
Khopesh (done)
Guan Dao (modeled, texturing now)
Oriental "peasant hat"
Ashigaru style hat
Dragon Guan Dao (alternate pieces, basically a more rich looking guan dao with dragon stuff)
Half Orc Dragon Breastplate (same basic design of the Dragon Pack 1 breastplate, for males and females)
Chu Ling's Sword (elaborate katana, based on a plot arc from Beldin)
Two more Dragon armor styles for males and females (no orc or dwarf versions planned, but it MIGHT happen).
Redesign of the Elven Armor set
A backless Dress (no real name for it yet, designed to be a sort of high class priestess garb for favored souls (with wings) )

Stuff that MIGHT go in:

Dragon Gauntlets (bracers)
Infector Crossbow
Jian
Dao
Dragon Helm (VERY distant possibility)
Redesign of the Balor textures (I HATE THAT DAMN DIAPER!!!!)

I will have a shot at converting some armour sets (though I'm not sure whether it's necessary to rescale the armour as well as the texture as opposed to retexturing a standard armour set for those races) but really I was just saying that we already have samurai armour. I also use black monk outfits with hoods for ninja outfits, but more are more than welcome. All this other stuff looks pretty cool!
