Are there other people who simply don't play through Awakenings and Witch Hunt because if you did the Ultimate Sacrifice you can't import that save together with DA:A and Witch Hunt into Dragon Age 2?

I played through all the DLC and imported a Warden who did the Dark Ritual into DA2. But the character I will want to canon with did the Ultimate Sacrifice. And by canon I just mean that, that is the save I want to import into DA2 and then take that DA2 save into DA3. I wonder if this will make me miss out on stuff in DA3. I certainly hope not. I guess Bioware has this in mind. But it does bother me sometimes to think about!

I guess that even if you do not import a save that includes DA:A and Witch Hunt, Bioware would make sure you won't feel like you lost out on story and gameplay.

The other option is to import your dead Warden, have his death undone in DA:A and then have DA2 undo that your Warden survived. This is not an option for me. Kills the game experience to pretend my Warden is dead when he is not and vice verse.

How do you guys feel about it?

AFAIK Bioware has made sure that you don't miss out on xp and stuff for not playing through Awakening (not sure about the DLC). For example, there is a quest in the game that is only available when you haven't met Nathaniel (US ending) or he died in Awakening.

I do get your point, I would have loved to be able to combine my US City Elf with my Orlesian Warden game to make sure I get all possible decisions imported into DA2. However, due to a lot of, still unfixed, import bugs I don't worry about it too much. At this point I keep importing the same file over and over again because it is the most 'correct' playthrough I have.

What file are you importing then? Yout US import?

Don't you worry about importing an Ultimate Sacrifice save that might go further to DA3 (when it come)? Because then your character didn't do Witch Hunt, might be retconned because ofthe OGB iissue being unresolved and also never met the Architect for example

If Bioware decides to make the OGB canon, then I'm not buying the next game.
'my canon'  is my Dalish archer, who romanced Zevran, got Alistair married to Anora and Loghain died when he killed the Archdemon. Besides that Leliana is dead (good job with that one bioware), the Architect is dead and Morrigan has been stabbed.

The only problems that I have with that import file are the bugged Zevran encounter and undead Leliana. xD

No, Loghain died killing the Archdemon, my Warden is... I don't know, somewhere. xD

Haha, we'll just have to see then. So, my warden will take it all with him to the fade and punch that Archdemon in the face.

Should I be worried? Can't get over the fact that my warden won't have coffee with the Architect and can't track down Morrigan. But hey, guess you can't have everything if you want to be a hero!

I remember the higher-ups, I think it was Mr. Gaider (but don't quote me on it!), saying that if you import a dead Warden, then what technically happened was that the Warden Commander that you have during Awakenings is really Orlesian.

Basically that if you import a dead Warden, your Warden isn't actually revived... they're dead, and this person is the Orlesian appointed commander.
I think they did that so you can have one save file to import to DA2.
I also think it's stated in the Awakening manual too......

Yeah that is what they said. What I will never understand with Awakening is the fact that the if you load the US-warden then why not let us make the Orlesian, but let us keep all the choices that the dead warden made? It is irriating that if you make the Orlisean you have to go with a pre-made world.

Completely agree. This is why I don't want to import my US warden to Awakening. It kills the experience for me and even if I can bare with that until I import him to DA2 and the save gets "fixed", it feels like it is so prone to be buggy that I don't want to risk it and rather just import my US warden save directly from Orogins into DA2. Which is a pity but the best choice for me as it is now I guess.

I can imagine Bioware had their reasons for not offering US wardens to be properly inported to Awakening (in other words; your choices are imported and you make a new Orlesian warden) but it is still a pity. Big one. Because it is a great game and I don't want to miss out on stuff.

I am hoping that more complex saves like the US Warden + Awakening different guy saves etc. will be addressed soon. I was thinking that maybe since Thedas is the 'character' we could have some sort of interface to select flags in DA3 to create the correct Thedas our characters occupy.

What I am still puzzled about, is why Bioware and the devs won't comment on this. Not explain it but just let us know if this will be an issue or not. How much will it affect player agency if we choose to import to DA3 without playing through DA:A because of the import issues? Cause if you played all the games and still choose to import your Ultimate Sacrifice warden straight from Origins into DA2 you will know if you miss out on stuff. It is not like an invisible problem.

They put DA:A out there, which by the way was a game i really enjoyed playing, without having the option of properly import an Ultimate Sacrifice warden. Now, I think if anyone here wonders about how that will affect any gamers experience in the future, it is out of love for the games, because people care. Not because they want to complain. At least for me, it is really just about feeling like I can trust my choices and not feel like I will miss out on really important and engaging content.
