Hi there

I am a UK PS3 Dragon Age Origins User. I achieved my annulment Invoker trophy on around 1 March 2010. Unfortunately, due to an issue with servers, my trophy info was reset a day or so later (along, I understand, with everyone else's). My trophy info was reset to a time before I gained the Annulment Invoker trophy, and nothing I can do will make it come back.

Things I have tried:
1) Re synching my trophy collection
2) Re-doing the conversation strings with Cullen and Gregoir for every permutation of siding with the Templars.
3) Scoured the forums (though this was some time ago)
4) Gone to live chat
5) Wiped and reinstalled ALL game data, resulting in having to re-download all of the 6GB or so of DLC I have acquired
6) Waited on hold on the support phone line for 2.5 hours before running out of battery
7) Spoken to live chat again, who have said that there are people who can fix my problem - they are the developers and they can ONLY be contacted through the forums. Live chat claims that there is no direct way to contact a dev, even if you are part of the same company, so here I am.

I understand that it may not be possible to "add" a trophy to an account. I would be perfectly happy with having my trophy entries wiped so that I could start again with a clean slate. I know that this may involve some activity on the part of both Bioware and Sony.

What I find impossible to believe is that there is no way of fixing this glitch, which prevents me from getting my 100% completion - something that bugs me irrationally, and since I am on maternity leave and awaiting a baby AND have the traditional minor OCD that gamers have about completing, I am seeking an answer. ^_^

Please, please somebody put me out of my misery and help me fix this problem!

Hi ababyyou - I'll look into it to see if there's anything we can do for you on the BioWare dev end.

Hi again - I spoke with our online programmers and got some insight into what's going on. On DAO, our achievement and trophy system got ported over to consoles in a weird way. Essentially there are two systems working in parallel - the BioWare system and the first-party system (i.e. Microsoft or Sony). What's happened in your case is that the two systems have gotten out of synch. The BioWare system is convinced that you've already received the trophy so it's no longer granting it, whereas the the Sony system is convinced that you haven't received it and therefore won't grant it.

Unfortunately, there's no easy way to correct this issue. If we correct it on our servers, your game will push new data to the server and overwrite our correction. If you delete the relevant game data on your PS3, it will synch the incorrect data back down from our servers. It's kind of like launching a nuclear missile - fixing it would require tightly synchronized action on both of our parts and we're just not equipped to really pull that off with the sort of finesse that it would really require.

Speaking of nuclear missiles, however, we thankfully chose to nuke that whole system from space and rebuild a far more sane trophy and achievement system for DA2. I know that's cold comfort for a deeply engaged DAO fan on mat leave (congrats, by the way!) but at least we've learned our lesson on this one.

Sorry, I wish I could be the bearer of better news but at least you have an official answer now.

All the best,
Rob
