This 'halloween' dressing-up nonsense is just that, nonsense. I don't understand why people do it.
All Hallows Eve, or all saints day is - to my understanding - a religious holiday. Its been trivialised, and lost most if not all of its original meaning with the trick-or-treat business.
That being said, I will not deny that some of the ideas that people come up with for their costumes haven't been entertaining... I just fail to see the point of such a thing.

If it was really a religious holiday, nobody would be doing it.
It's point is to dress up in costumes ranging from ridiculous to insanely awesome, with stages in between, and run around getting delicious candy and scaring/annoying people. It's a wonder every day isn't Halloween.

As opposed to what holiday? They're ALL trivialised and commercialized.
