 -Betraying Isabela to the Qunari
-Selling Fenris back to Danarius
-Killing Anders/Merrill
-The sibling dies (Bethany by Meredith, Carver on the Deep Roads)

So that would leave the party to Aveline (full rivalry so she no longer acknowledges Hawke as a friend), Varric (stays loyal no matter what?) and possibly Sebastian

What class/decisions would you recommend for a playthrough where Hawke loses the majority of companions/betrays them?

I don't know, I think driving Aveline out of the party so she returns to Ferelden would be worse.

As for class, I think it could work with any, but if you only have Aveline, Seb and Varric, a mage would probably be a good idea.

Definitely. A healer mage. :-)

You can drive Aveline out? I thought that only occurs after post-game?

Sell Isabela and Fenris.
Let Anders go, forcing Sebastian to leave.
Side with the Templar with a low friendship / rivalry Merrill or with the Mages with low rivalry/friendship Aveline.
Kill Anders and Merrill (or tell Anders to go away and kill Aveline).

For more added drama, make Bethany a Circle Mage and have her be killed by Meredith.

I don't think it's possible to kill Aveline. You can horribly disappoint her which is almost as bad. If it's death and chaos you're after you may want to play with a predominantly aggressive personality as doing so will open up a few more options to kill and intimidate people during quests.

Good idea!

Was thinking:

-Romance Isabela THEN sell her (ultimate betrayal)
-Sell Fenris (probably flirt with him too), then sell him off
-Aggressive personality (rival-maker)
-'Spare' Anders so Sebastian gets mad and leaves
-Side with the Templars so that Anders AND Merrill attacks, essentially killing both
-Bethany becomes a Circle Mage that Meredith kills OR Carver dies in the Deep Roads

Yeah that sounds pretty good. Only problem would be having a balanced party.

For a playthrough that Carver dies in the Deep Roads:
Keep Aveline so there's a tank
Varric obviously stays so he's ranged DPS/crowd control
Hawke should be a healer mage so the party has a healer

For a playthrough where Bethany is killed by Meredith (there's a hard one!):
Obviously Aveline and Varric stay
But Hawke? Would he be better as a two hand warrior or dual wield rogue?

Since there's only 2 available party members who stay, it would probably be more viable to play a healer mage Hawke and just have Carver die in the Deep Roads.

I do admit though I have a hard time killing off Bethany...just because even if my Hawke is a mage-hating jerk, I just can't kill my own sister. I usually keep her around as a healer (I'm more than happy to kill Anders though >:-D).

You could always kill her off in the Deep Roads too. It's not as bad as the betrayal one (unless you want the super-betrayal one. Don't think I could manage it. Though siding with the templars with Merrill on friendship (though not enough for her to join me) was hard. In the scene where Hawke kills her, I'm sure she said something like "you were the only friend I ever had". Image IPB

Didn't, just read about it.

I think she sides with the templars if your F/R is too low, so you could always side mage.  If you max rival her, she'll follow you.

I haven't done this, but going by this youtube video I don't think Aveline dies even if she sides against you

Aye, but she doesn't attack you. Just throw her sword on the ground and march out.

If you sided with the mages to get Aveline against you, Merrill wouldn't turn on you anyway, so it wouldn't be any more of an 'evil'/death playthrough.

Aveline won't kill hawke or anyone in hawke family, Hawke saved Aveline life, she will leave and never to return.

She'll only side with the templars if your F/R is too low with her AND Fenris has sided with you, I believe.  (There's no logic to that, but I guess they didn't want to leave Hawke without any warriors.

Edited to add:  I'm not sure if selling Fenris into slavery prevents Aveline from siding against you under any circumstances.  It might.

About Isabella: I wouldn't necessarily count that as evil. I gave her to th Qunari with my good Hawke, because her stupid actions lead to many innocents got killed. But I guess, if you're in a relationship with her and hand her over to the Arishok - that's pretty bad
