I came into the franchise with Mass Effect 2. I originally played the first one, but I was younger and didn't really understand RPGs too much and wanted more Halo style shooting. Now that I'm older, I feel like I might have a different taste for the game, but I just am not sure about class and love interest and everything. I really like the Shepard I cultivated in ME2. A rough and tough soldier with a heart of gold. I'm afraid starting over from ME1 might diminish that, but I really want to take full advantage of ME3's gameplay and story. Also, I played as a soldier and really liked it, but I'm not big on using the same class once for a similar game. I was thinking about making my canon Shep an Infitrator with a bondesque personality. I'm pretty much just coming here for advice. What do you guys feel I should do?

So should I stick with soldier or try with the infiltrator?

Do whatever you want to. I personally always play as Infiltrator.

Go with the Infiltrator. You can always change your class back to Soldier when you import your ME1 character to ME2 if you don't like Infiltrator. Or you can go in a totally different direction and go with biotics. Whatever floats your boat.

Don't get it. Terrible game, just terrible. I recommend buying the first Two Worlds, a much better RPG.

Should I miss the first third of this story? No. Do not skip the incredible ME1.

Get it, more for your sake of understanding the story and some characters than for the gameplay.

Absolutely yes. Great story, decent shooting, actual exploration, and one of the best bad guy confrontations ever in a game. Totally worth it for twenty bucks.

If you disliked ME2 then "yes", if you adored ME2 particularly it's gameplay and narrative, then "no".

How about trying Vanguard? I recommend 'em ;)

I'd also recommend getting ME1. The gameplay isn't all that compared to ME2, I think. But the character interaction and plot are... hey, it's Mass Effect. Do I really need to go into this part in detail?

Yes althrough I would say play it on casual so you can breeze through the gameplay as fast as possible. Gameplay is terrible in ME1.

Yes. If you have a 360 or PC and have yet to buy ME1 but own ME2. Then... Then. No! Must play ME1, it has a better story than ME2, however the gameplay and graphics are a lower quality but that is to be expected. Personally I prefer ME1 over ME2 simply because of story, however I prefer to see ME as a single game.

This, even if you don't like the gameplay NOT playing it would be like starting a book from the middle.

Absolutely. The combat isn't as good as 2 but you get all the back story and get to know those squad mates better. Also would give you time to mull over what kind of personality that Shep has.

I'm replaying 1 at the moment (2 shortly as well) getting some import saves ready after switching platforms and am loving it.
