ME1 is incredibly cheap nowadays, so why not.

If you'd rather invest your time in something else though, I can't recommend it.

The main, and for me only major attraction to it is the main plot, which is contained in only seven missions. So, you might as well just watch them on YouTube.

In the end, the choice is yours, but don't go in while expecting a masterpiece of game design.

I think you should get Mass Effect 1. It's very good game, good story. Maybe battle mechanic r a little bit odd, but the game is definetly worth every cent you spend on it.

Interesting. I assume it's impossible to either love both games or hate both games, by your tone? Image IPB

Yes you should. A thousand times yes. Story and some of the characters are just not complete without it.

Ties it all together if you start from the beginning and make decisions that affect ME2. The conversations, memories, etc... all take on new meaning when you are a part of ME1.
Buy it! Play it! Love it!

Cause i bought it on xbox and pc(same goes for ME2).. but not that poor cause i got the pc versions on steam really cheap. =]

I did more playthroughs of ME1 then ME2. And don't be put of by what people say about the Mako. It is an awesome ride its the randomly generated planet surfaces that can sometimes be a **** to navigate.

YES do it!

Er, it's difficult for me to say, because while at first I didn't like ME1, It was still the one I started the series with. What I would say is to give it a go. The game really only properly starts once Shep becomes a Spectre. It's worth playing anyway solely for the import. ME Genesis covers the big points, but not some of the other minor ones that you might want to have a part in. But yeah, like Phae said it is stupid cheap right now so give it a go.

Upon the realization that I will be humming "House of the Rising Sun" for the remainder of the evening, I have gradually developed a lot of hate towards you two.

? I liked both.

"ME3 is the best place to enter the trilogy" so no, don't buy ME1 because BW has set it up so everything in ME1 doesn't matter.... you'll just get some bull comic choice at the start of ME3, "thanks for being loyal hardcore fans, now open up wide as we feed you sh!t" DA2 and ME2 killed the first games, guess we'll enjoy mail coverage of things we spent over one hundred hours doing for each "different" playthrough.

Doesn't fly with my friends and I but theres plenty of casual gamers out there who'll eat it up and think its strawberries, fifty/fifty about buying ME3 however we've already come this far so we might as well buy the last game although that'll be the end of that.  BW or EA, whoever pulled the strings for ME2 and DA2 have lost at least six customers due to efforts to maximise profits while reducing quality of RPG content.

PS. Maybe three of those six will come back to BW some day due to their cattle like behaviour.
Edit: ME2 makes the actions of Nazara seem like a complete waste.... after the Rachni idea failed couldn't he have set off his little distress becon thing that caused the other Reapers to head back anyway?   the tech wouldn've been two thousand years less advanced allowing them to take zero casualties or why wasn't the Collector ships helping his Geth fleet when it attacked the citadel?

You seem awfully mad, are you OK? . . . . . . . . .

I still enjoy Mass Effect...... but anyone who isn't bothered... Hathur99 uploaded the *story* of Mass Effect on youtube and it is about as complete as you will find on youtube :)

Yes. Buy it. The pace of ME might feel a little slower than ME2, but I feel like it's more story-driven and has more opportunities for exploration. And if you're a slow completionist like me, you can get about 60 hours+ gameplay for 5-10$. Not a bad deal.
Also, it's fun!

It's mind boggling the number of people that love the 1st and hate the 2nd or visa versa.  In the grand scheme of things they are not that different and both are lots of fun with a lot of replayability.

You should grab Mass Effect 1. Don't deprive yourself of the experience that game provides. The story is superior to ME2 IMHO (and that's all...don't wanna start a flame war or anything).

Go for it, you'll have a better connection with certain characters for ME2 and ME3. The only thing you would have to get used to is the combat because it is different in ME1, but fun regardless.

Don't get it. Terrible game, just terrible. I recommend buying the first Two Worlds, a much better RPG.
