I hope you're kidding. That is one of the worst fight scenes I've ever seen.
Oh and yeah Siege of Gondor, Pellennor Fields, Black Gate or Helms Deep ftw! Although as someone else mentioned the army of the dead was a massive cop out just used to quickly finish the battle, it isn't like that in the book, but nevermind, great films.
I know! The books are wonderful, i really love them.
Yep, I think they did a good job with the films, the extended edition adds more stuff, considering the books and lore of LoTR cover a huge amount of information. But, I still prefer the books.

Aye. They're using the ancient time honored technique of shirtless macho posturing.

There are so many flaws in the shooting, acting, fight coreography, etc., in that fight, that is really laughable. And I laugh when I watch it ever since 1988 when it was released!
If you can get past Van damme's overacting and posturing its actually a very good martial arts movie. Btw the film choreography was done by Frank Dux...the guy Van damme is playing in the movie. You have a cast list of real martial artists , they cant act for **** but they know their craft. The bad guy in that clip is Bolo Yeung, a kung fu master who was friends with Bruce Lee.
Oh, I know what you mean. But check what Steph285 has posted. I know Bolo Yeung since that movie. Man, that Lee's flying kick that throws the guy backwards... it looks so real! That's gotta hurt! Like all his other moves too! All moves in Bloodsport (The Great White Dragon was the title here) are sooooo fake. We can see them "hitting" a mile away from the oponent among many other fails! =)

The only reason you cant see the fake hits in any of Bruce Lee's movies is because he was so damn fast. In his last movie Game Of Death they slowed it down when hes fighting the giant bloke and you can still barely see his leg . He camped with muscle injuries most of his life because of pulling blows but anyway in the 80's super slow motion was a big deal in action movies. It comes off really cheesy nowadays but it has its charm.
Its funny i also know that other movie Seagloom linked, its a female martial artist also from the period called Cynthia Rothrock, a movie full of pros but they cant act.
Chuck Norris released a movie years ago called Sidekicks that poked fun at stars like Van Damme for the naked chest posturing. The "villain" ripped off his shirt and started yelling and making noises resulting in Chuck knocking his ass out, funny movie.

Jen vs. Shu Lien in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I've always liked that one.

it's a little silly but i love this fight scene. There's no stunt doubles and wires here she did all that stuff herself and the coodination and timing is great. I also like the martial arts style they created for the movie kind of a mix of street dance and drunken fist.

I will go out on a limb here and pick ones that no one else has.
This or This
I am sure everyone knows these.
Those are mine.

At least I think none mentioned Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris. It was said to be a great fight but after I watched the movie all I could think was Norris could take quite a beating, but there was never any thrill in the fight as one-sided as it was.

I considered mentioning the Chuck vs. Bruce fight, but I think that battle is famous more for the actors' reputations than for the battle itself.

The thread started about an epic field battle that gave me many feelings and you guys turned it into something very funny with some remarkable one-on-one fights. But there is no way this is not the very best fight scene ever! One of the most original coreography I've seen or at least, the most greasy one! =)

I must confess, as breath-takingly awesome as the battle of Pelennor Fields is, this battle from FotR will always be one of my personal favorites:
Battle in Balin's Tomb
EDIT: In fact, the whole segment from Balin's Tomb to the showdown with the Balrog is just incredible. I'd post the whole thing if such a video existed on YouTube.

Hmmm let my choices span quite a few different mediums but all were memorable.
1. Thanos with Infinity Gauntlet vs entire Marvel U. To appease Death he wipes out half the universe's population then
he takes on all the cosmic abstracts and wins...for a moment.
2. Hospital shootout at the end of Hard Boiled
3. Mexican standoff in Good, Bad, Ugly. The score could have constituted as another person, it's so iconic.
4. Helm's Deep. The best siege in cinema
5. Battle of Endor (minus the Ewoks): Awesome

Well, technically it's the second Punisher movie, after the lame late 80's adaptation with Dolph Lundgren.
But yes, it's an excellent movie that is criminally underrated IMHO. I'd put it up against the best of the many Marvel adaptations out there.
