I'm asking you simply, who did you prefer most? Who did you feel connected to most? Who did you enjoy spending all those countless of hours when traveling through the wasteland, killing people for justice or for simple pleasure?

Courier does lots of things and can change the fate of New Vegas and the politics of west coast.

EDIT: And if you're Sylvius, the Courier also has the advantage of a much more vaguely defined past.

I've thought long and hard about this, but in the end still nothing beats Fawkes.TheBlackBaron wrote...
And of course, the Courier's companions totally kick the **** out of FO3's followers, which helps with the "immersion and connectivity" bits.

...I like the Courier more than the Lone Wanderer, though. But as others have already stated, that's because of liking F:NV more than FO3.

Mine took a little too much head damage from the bullet to the head and thought he was a pirate. In land-locked Nevada.
And I just liked the story better. But To be fair, Fallout 3 did allow reasonable amount of flexibility in who you were too. Just within a much tighter vault structure. I just felt I had far less conrol over the plot there. And the characters I most would have enjoyed as companions, weren't ones. (Sydney and Reilly)
And now I want to play more New Vegas.

New Vegas has more meaningful and interesting choices, which allow you to better shape your character.

Again, like most have already said, FO:NV is the better game when compared to FO:3. It had better characters, better plot (much more interesting and meaningful), better gameplay, better quests, etc. And to me I also felt that the Courier had more character as well as having a place within the wasteland.

The Courier was more entertaining though: "Wait, he can't really be so stupid as to risk his life to shag crazy-psycho-revenge chick...wait, I can sleep with him and then kill him?!? Avellone, you are one messed-up person."

But I guess the courier because s/he had a better story and purpose.

I felt more connected to the Wanderer than the Courier. Having the family/vault background helped give a sense of direction to the overall story. Also, not repeatedly crashing to desktop with FO3 probably helped me feel more connected.

The Black-Widow perk was hilarious because you weren't required to have any skills... Instead you just slept with everyone. XD

but i like to RP that my wanderer went to California to reestablish contact with the western brotherhood of steel. When that failed, he began life as a courier until he could find a way back home after his vertibird got destroyed shortly after reaching California. So it doesn't matter to me.
