Didn't you know? All aliens are the same. Never mind that most of them have set their own racial differences aside a long time ago and decided to work together while humanity still thinks it's them against the rest of the galaxy like in some cliche sci-fi flick.

First contact war anyone? Krogan rebellions? Morning war? Rachni war? Big death machines flying back to galaxy? Batarian slavers?..... did i miss anything?

Were any of the Council races the instigators in ANY of those? Infact the Council outright stopped the mighty Turians from stomping all over us. Our own ignorance nearly screwed us over with the First Contact war.

And i'm loving the assumption here that all Aliens are benevolent creatures that won´t take advantage of us as soon as they can.

But as to the question itself i would save Earth because as stated before it makes up to 99% of the human population and its the largest consumer market for the colonial products.

And when the Council is in pieces who will stop the Turians from stomping their way to the top? I was just point out that these aliens are just as militaristic as us and their will be a power vacuum after the Reaper war.

Er dude. I didn't say all the Aliens are benevolent peaceful creatures.

@Last Vizard: I think you're confusing science fiction with reality on just how viable Star Trek/Wars/Mass Effect space travel is (or even "will be")

The Turians opened fire on an alliance force without opening up any negotiations. As far as humanity knew, they were simply being engaged by a hostile race. What were they supposed to do? Wave a white flag and tell them they just wanted to talk while their ships get blown to pieces?

Of course Humanity is going to be a bit bitter, their very first "welcome" to council space was SURPRISE warships!

Ok for one, everyone will be too busy rebuilding themselves. The Reapers are attacking other planets afterall. Infact the Turians have evacuated their entire home planet! You understand how devastating that could be for them yes? For two, Turians and Humans alike have come along way since the First Contact War. Its just an 'Incident' to them. Not a war.

Thanks for the back up mate, they seem to think humanity is the cause of all wrong doing in the universe.  Maybe they think they're more than human, completely selfless, almost alien to the rest of us?

And? Look at military operations in todays world. Mistakes are made. Assumptions are a bad thing. The Turians saw a new unknown species were opening up Relays, some General in the Hierarchy made a call. Only in Hindsight cfan you see it is a bad call. At the time it probably would have seemed the safest course of action.

What, confusing science fiction with reality how?  Your the type of person that wouldn't believe in flight if you didn't see it with your own eyes aren't you?

Turian have many worlds that they've held for thousands of years, they can lose many many worlds before they are in the same boat as us.

And how will you rationalise the occupation of a human world?
Edit: little more than an "oh buggar, shoot those little ships to hell... i mean open com channels"

Lose the Earth. We can always go back to repopulate it since we have a pool of billions of humans on other planets and colonies.

Incorrect, the human colonial population is measured in the millions, not the billions. A good 95% of our population is still on Earth. If we loose Earth, we'll be set back by a few centuries (at least) in terms of population and cease to be a major galactic power.

That said, Dave Of Canada is correct in that the loss of the Citadel could very well lead to loosing the war, meaning that we would end up loosing Earth and the colonies anyways. This is assuming that the Reaper IFF that we retrieved doesn't bypass the relay-lockout command from the Citadel, though.

The First Contact War went well beyond a 'bad decision'. It was a systematic conquest at first contact, and reflects very poorly on Turian practices.

@Last Vizard - you just keep believing in your magical world in 50 years. My grandpa thought we were gonna have flying cars by now.

====

As for the aliens - since we're talking about the Citadel - it's hardly a significant number of any one species on the citadel (except for Keepers I suppose) - losing the organisms on the Citadel is hardly relevant.

===

And since we've turned the Reapers into Devastator (they don't just blow stuff up) - losing the Citadel might be the end of "Star Trek" - but you can rebuild the tech - you can't just magic up a garden world. ((There are FAR too many in ME - but I digress))

You have yet to give an actual good reason why anyonr but the Batarians would take advantage of Humanity. Anyway this has gotten a little off topic. Lose the Citadel = Lose the Earth & EVERY other system. If you think every other species should die along with us if we cant survive just because you're selfish then go ahead.

If the reapers have the citadel they won't "shut down" the relay network. They'll CONTROL it - like the Omega 4 relay. Only ships carrying reaper IFF codes will be allowed through, the rest of the ships will get spaced. This allows the reapers free access to anywhere in the galaxy at a moments notice, but paralyses the council races.

This isn't an end to star trekking, this would be the beginning of systematic destruction of all life in the galaxy. Enjoy your 11 billion friends and family and your garden world while it lasts because one day the reaper fleet will come through the charon relay for a second go and it'll be curtain call for humanity - this time, there isn't going to be any reinforcements.

If organics keep the citadel , the war can be won and we can repopulate the earth afterwards, hopefully in a more responsible way. If the citadel is lost to the reapers, we lose the whole mass relay network, so each system will be isolated and the reapers will take them all one by one.

Very true. We and the Turians have moved on now though. WIth only old veterans still really harbouring grudges. We co-operate well in the present, like on building the Normandy.

There's absolutely no need to be a "major" galactic power either.

When they're gathering that much attention and are constantly expanding beyond their perimeters, they have only themselves to blame when someone bigger than them knocks them off their throne or when they're locked in a constant technological arms race.

If they haven't discovered mass effect technology to begin with, they probably wouldn't be targeted by the Reapers by now and then could've one whatever they want once the cycle had ended.
