Did she say her name was Aflac? I kept waiting for the duck to pop out AFLAC!
Well at least her name isn't Safealto.

Ha ha, I did too! But no, the subtitles say "Athlok".

Wait, why does a Templar even have a phylactery for a qunari mage?

I suspect that the minute they take a new mage into custody, they draw blood and create a phyactery.  Kinda like taking fingerprints and dna, don't you think?

Dislike the protagonist. Find her too stereotypical "I'm a dashing rogue with an ego to match.," Plot is set up so that the two people who don't believe in love will fall in love (but knowing Tallis, she'll betray him, or he'll die in the last episode.). I like the elf First playing John Lennon (all you need is love). At least he can get his head through a door.

Templar so steriotypical as well (the only good apostate is a dead apostate unless they are a captured apostate so that we can cage or tranquil them). I guess part of the entry level skills for Templars has to be that you're a blind bigot with no mind of your own and an ego to go with it. (I"m the king of the sword and shield!! Bwa-ha-ha!)

Can't we have a thoughtful, monklike, Templar or a rogue assassin who shows a little humility from time to time? I would think it's hard to be a good assassin when you stand up on the mountain and yell "I'm Queen of the World!!!!"

P.S.  Another thing I don't like about these first three episodes is that, like so many other movies and tv shows, etc. these days, the man is portrayed as a buffoon, constantly bested by the female. I am sick of it. Men are not buffoons.  Men are smart, intelligent, wickedly handy and can be utterly loyal and devoted to something in which they believe or to someone whom they love. I am sick and tired of seeing men portrayed in art as less than women, less smart, less loyal, less creative, less, less, less.  It needs to stop.  Neither male in his so far measures up to the female. One is devoted but clearly weak. The other is strong but clearly not as smart as she.  That doesn't hold my interest.  As a woman, I want a hero, not a smart a**, female who constantly puts the guy down.

You're not far off actually. Templars are recruited primarily for their religious zeal because the Chantry considers a good moral compass a secondary concern.

It was good I enjoyed it. Though some of the lines weren't excecuted as well as it should have, and that boy... grrr >< is it just me or does anybody else hate having really young actors give cheesy lines.

This is just a personal thing, he's a much better actor than I, but still, I really hate that, especially with that annoying voice >< bah! xD what an ass I am, he's doing this for free, or getting paid in pennies no doubt! Kudos!

Well, it's free...

Tallis is also different in this series than in MOTA, personality wise. It's also a cheese fest, but, it's free...

Honestly, i enjoyed "Warden's fall" far more than this series.

That is kind of their job.

I want to watch the movies/TV shows that you watch...it usually seems to be the opposite, i.e., males are typically portrayed positively and women are the simpletons or 'eye candy'.

To me it's quite the opposite.

Sure, there are lots of shows where men are--as you described--buffons. But most shows it's the opposite.

Not all the time, people like AListair where also put into the Chantry very young and forced into there role, so not all of them are like "lol mages, kill staby staby." And then  there's some like Cullen that only become harsh because something horrific happen to him by mages.

Just because most Templars are staby staby mages, does not mean all of them are like that.

Alistair never became a Templar.

Obviously not all Templars are like this (Thrask is a much better example than Cullen) however Thrask wasn't being a very good Templar, now was he?

A Templar's job is to deal with apostate's in one of two ways:  kill or capture and take to the Circle.

I wouldn't even say most templars are like that... most of the templars you meet seem like fairly reasonable people. Gregoire, Cullen, those other ones in the tower, the guy in Lothering, Ser Otto, the ones in front of the Chantry in Denerim. Also Thrask, the templar recruits, and some of those lady templars you correspond with in the Quentin quests. As opposed to Alrik, that one guy with the bushy sideburns, those ones who torture the Dalish, the one who tries to capture Anders in Awakening, and Meredith. Though arguably prior to *spoiler* she was strict but not necessarily horrible.

I'm using Cullen as an example as a Templar who was never harsh but became harsh because of what happen in Ferelden,. but even in the end, he overcame that. Alistair also was in training and would have became a Templar, and he is not the only one to be given to teh Chantry as a child and forced to become a Templar.

I like that. It's obviously a reason to give "good" templars a chance, but since most mages are blood mages it clearly justifies the Right of Annulment

But honestly, you can hardly say most of templars are crazy maniacs or something.

Why am i arguing with House

Both groups are flawed to hell tbh. You either have lunatics with swords and powers to dispel magic or lunatics with power to explode people or drain their blood. :innocent:

We're talking about Templar attitudes towards apostates because of whathisfaceTemplardude's reaction to Sarebaas and Josmael in Redemption.

They are all supposed to be 'harsh' on apostates, as in...capture them and take them to the Circle or kill them if they refuse/are dangerous.

Sarabaas is dangerous though, we see this and his plans. Why do you think Tallis was sent after him?
