Did you install and run DAO first, or did you copy your old files first?
Are all of your expansions and DLCs authorized as on the old system?

Just to be sure, your old save games are in /Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Characters/YourCharacterName and your old addins are in /Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Addins?

I moved the saved game files to that location, yes. I did intall/run DA:O first- then I cpies the files. Yes, all files have been authorized.

It's very strange... DAO should recognize all and any save games if they are in the right folder.
It could be that your old files got corrupted when the harddrive failed. If you don't mind, you could upload one of your savegames on DragonAgeNexus or any other filehosting site, and I'll see if I can get it to load.

I tried uploading to the DAX site but I failed miserably- I didn't get an option to actually upload the file. I am going to uninstall and reinstall a clean copy of DA:O and see if it works this time. I will post again if I'm not successful. Thanks again

It should just be a ZIP file which contains the application, no installation involved... so it just fails to run?

Yes, it's quite odd. I had Modazipin installed and working when the saved game files were not working properly. Now that I have installed DA:O again and it is recognizing all of my saved game files- Modazipin will not install. I am getting the following error messages when I run the zip file:"You don't have permission to save the file" or " The file Addins.xml couldn't be opened because there is no such file". It is asking me to locate the Dragaon Age folder under my Documents- but it is there. All of the correct files are there and I had never had a problem running or installing Modazipin before I had the new HD installed. It must have something to do with the original saved game files but I cannot figure out how to fix it; very frustrated

Please go to your Documents, select the BioWare folder and hit Command-i. In the info window, go to Sharing & Permissions and assign Read & Write to your user account. Then click the cogwheel at the bottom and select Make ... (Me) the owner and afterwards Apply to enclosed items (if your are not on an admin account, you will have to unlock the feature first, click the little lock at the bottom and enter your admin details).
If this does not help, open Disk Utility (in Applications/Utilities), select your HD and run Repair Disk Permissions.

Hm, looks like some faulty permissions on the files from your old HD.
