In my effort to stop being a daily lurker, I thought I would post this topic to see what everyone else thought. Every time I watch the trailers for ME3, all I can think of is **SPOILER** how my Shepard is going to react to having to abandon Earth to go seek help. Someone like Shepard who is always seen as the ultimate hero, able to conquer and beat imposible odds, to have to turn their back and abandon their people (especially if you have a Earthborn origin). I can't imagine being put in that position. You're going to have to fly away while watching the Earth be utterly destroyed. While it's a hard tactical decision and it he/she has no other choice, it cannot be an easy decision. Shepard always acts relatively in control under pressure and when it comes to "difficult" situations, but Earth is personal. I remember walking through the Collector ship and hearing a squadmate marvel at all those millions of pods and say they planned to hit Earth. Honestly, my heart sank.

Thoughts? What about your Shepard? Would your Earthborn Shepard react differently than Spacer or Colonist, and how?

Apart from Arrival Shepard never did anything of significance alone (in the games at least), s/he always had help, which s/he had to go and seek in some cases. No real change here
As for leaving Earth: They know that it means exactly the opposite of abandoning humanity, so it is a rather easy decision for the head, but the heart will keep an open channel back to earth.
I have one earthborn Shepard, who hates this place so much, that he doesn't look forward to going back there, but in the end, he wouldn't want to see it destroyed, in fact I think he will change his opinion about humanity's cradle and will learn to love it again, because it is in danger.

Shepard grimaces and turns around from the viewport to see Liara watching in concern. A little shake of the head is all that's needed to send the asari moving out of the observation room. One last look over a shoulder is all that Shepard can spare a beleaguered Earth.
"It's not my job to fight the reapers, it's my job to defeat them." A breathless whisper, to be repeated like a mantra in the days to come.

They way I see it, my Earthborn wanted to get the hell out of the pisshole he was raised in. Hes only saving Earth out of obligation and to defeat the Reapers. He could care less what happens after he saves it. But he scoffingly makes the remark 'At least they can claim there's a reason for all the damage now.'

I think shep regardless of background should be upset even colony sheps are taught that Earth is home the volus call all humans Earthclan so s they do associate Earth with their origin and don't bother to pick apart who comes from where. Shep should be devastated when leaving even a ren Earth shep had gang family on the world and would feel something for loosing those people.

If it was me leaving my home during war would be hard enough, leaving my entire world literally? Thats a whole lot worse.

Mine would be... well, not that happy, but she'd tell herself that after blowing up Aratoht, she has no right to sit around feeling sad about this.

Spacer Shepard (never played any others) Would grimace and say something like "If you had listened to me earlier this might not have happened. Now I need to get to work." (Somewhat paragon, but has no problems with murder if it gets the mission done.)

For my colonist Shepard, it'd be reliving a nightmare all over again. Everyone is getting slaughtered around you and you can't even do a damn thing to stop it, not even make the ones inflicting it feel pain for it. All you can do is find a way to fight them on better terms than this.
For my Spacer, she's ticked off and willing to say to hell with all of them. It's every human for themselves at this point. Good luck to those who survive long enough to fight.
She's a psycho, what can I say?

My Soldier Shep is a Spacer so he never actually "touched" Earth's ground, but given that he's human and humans originated from Earth, so he would feel downed.

My Earthborn War Hero Shepard would look down and say "It'll be fine, I've literally saved the universe like twice already, I totally got this."

He'll just say "We're not retreating, we're launching an offense in the opposite direction!"

My cannon sheps will all look down at that with various levels of "Oh no you didn't . . . I shall return."
