Kaidan or Ashley, who do you think makes the better Spectre?

Think about it and list your pros and cons for both and why one would deserve the status more.

Ashley
PROS
Suspicious of Aliens (Helps when dealing with individuals with unknown agendas)
Combat capable
CONS
Too suspicious, may lose allies and possible leads
Lacks subtely for non combat situations

Kaidan
PROS
Level headed, knows the ins and outs of galatic politics
Biotic and tech powers, capable of handling many different situations
CONS
Lacks combat power, unlikely to intimidate opponents
Seems unsure of himself, possible he might second guess his decisions

Vote: Kaidan

Ashley is capable enough in combat, but Kaidan's wide range of abilities and knowledge make him a better candidate.

Dunno. We don't know anything about Ash & Kaidan in ME3 - as far as I know BW said once not all squadmates will have access to same powers as they did before. Maybe Kaidan is a tad better fighter in ME3 than ME.

I'd go for "pretty much even" - neither Ash nor Kaidan is better than the other one, but maybe they tend to go for different solutions for the same problem. Ash is doing more efficiently with guns and sheer firepower, Kaidan seems to be a more diplomatic dude.

While I agree, you might not want to cite someone who was thrown out of the Spectres as a good example of one.

You don't get raised in the life that Ashley did and simply be "cautious" when she says the things she does. Aliens ruined her family's reputation. Of course she's racist.

Ashley is kind of racist, remember ME1? , her being "concerned" bout Vakarian and Wrex.
Also Saren was an ass and they only accepted him in military service because of his skill and determination, but still Garrus ownes both Ashley and Kaidan.

She wasn't being racist. She had concerns about them because at that point in time, she hadn't dealt with Aliens all that extensively and the Battle of Shanxi has also given her reason to be concerned by they're presence. By the time she's become a SpecTRe, she's probably learnt that Aliens can be ****s and saints like humans.

Yes he had his Spectre status revoked, but that was because he was indocrinated and was working for Sovereign, he was known as one of the best Spectre's before that.

On the topic: I think we cant judge until we see them in ME3, they're both older and more capable than they were in ME1.

By this time, she's still had less experience than Kaidan would have if he survived.
Hence, Kaidan is the better candidate.

Saren wasn't thrown out because his racism but because of his deeds with the Geth.
Still "nuff said".

By the way, compared to the stuff some guys of the "more advanced races" say, Ashley is not a racist. Compared to our today standards, she's open minded.

Yes kaidan is better candidate and in ME3 he's a spectre, but Lets stop arguing about them two, Also do VS have their own ship if their Spectres in ME3?

I think they were assigned to the Normadny to keep Shepard's seat warm... I doubt that he was meant to stay imprisoned if the trial went pear-shaped. Anderson, Hackett and the SR1+SR2 crews know the Reapers are coming, and Shepard's about the only one doing a damn thing to stop them, so I reckon Hackett would have ordered the VS to break them out of prison.

Seriously why does every thread with Ash have to go down the ''She's racist'' road? There's more information to say she's not than is, you can paragon her so she's more trusting of aliens, and even her writer pointed out that she's not racist. It's laughable at how naive some people are. Heck she even dismisses Terra firma as ''a bunch of racists'' and dislikes Cerberus becuase of their extremism.
