Let me preface this with saying that yes, I have indeed tried every solution I could find on the DA:O Solutions Round-up post and extensive search of the forums, to the letter several times over.

I am having some serious issues getting Awakening to work properly. The key issue seems to be that the installer will not write to the Addins.xml in the Documents directory. As a note, manually copy/pasting to the addins.xml does allow Awakening to show up, but I run into issues in the game itself, so I am trying to avoid that solution unless there is no other way. Also, I run windows 7.

I have a retail copy of DA:O, and the Origin version of Awakening, which showed up under new campaigns when I installed them months and months ago, and again when I re-installed them a week ago to start playing again. Due to unrelated events, I had to briefly take them both off my computer, and this is the point where things went wrong. Between then and now, I registered my hard copy of DA:O on Origin, but installed from the disk. When installing Awakening from Origin this time, I got an error with regards to a file, I assume it had to do with the addins.xml file, but I can't say for certain, as I wasn't paying attention much because I had never had problems before, and a simple "Retry" continued the installation without further errors. At this point, Awakening did not show up, and has since not without manually editing addins.xml, regardless of what I try.

The only thing that changed between working on not-working was registering my retail DA:O on the Origin service.

Any help towards fixing this would be greatly appreciated.
