And here is the unused material from the loyalty missions (not counting Zaeed and Kasumi, who got their own video).  This time, three videos.  The first covers Garrus, Grunt, Jack, Legion, and Mordin, because none of them had that much individually.  Garrus is the most interesting, because it's remnants of alternate endings to his which sound rather like results for failing:

Samara gets her own.  There's a really funny (if a bit tasteless) Morinth line I wish they'd kept:

Thane gets his own too.  Unfortunately, a lot of it is just extra "Where's Talid now?" type stuff that's not much different from the ones they decided to use:

I think the post-mission status updates from EDI at the end might be due to a bug, as I can see no reason at all for cutting them.

How on Earth do you find all this stuff! You're awesome, dude. Okay, I have to admit that after listening to Morinth's line, I snickered a bit. I must be more evil than I thought - heh.

Very methodically: I essentially check to see if every single line of dialogue is in the game by trying whatever I can to trigger it.  Sometimes, I get some false positives, but that's better than missing stuff (though that's happened one or two times as well).

OK, thanks to a tip on Youtube and some additional testing of my own, I discovered the post-mission update for failing Thane's loyalty is in the game. It's glitched as all hell though.

One way to hear it is to return the Normandy. Then, if you haven't already, you have to activate Garrus' loyalty mission (or have it completed already). Now here's where it gets strange: when you bring Thane, EDI's line often appears as only a subtitle. If you don't bring Thane, however, her line always plays correctly.

Another way to hear the whole thing is to complete Garrus' loyalty mission first. After failing Thane's, EDI will give you the update on Harkin and Sidonis, and then the Thane stuff will trigger.

Yet another way: activate Garrus' mission, but don't complete it, then take him along on Thane's and fail. Afterwards, EDI will give Garrus the advice to see C-Sec about Fade, and then update Thane.

For the cases where you return to the Normandy first, whatever bug is responsible also tends to screw up the Garrus lines from EDI about his mission, causing only subtitles to appear (but occasionally, they'll play normally. Unless you succeeded on Thane's, in which case you won't even get the subtitles). Like I said: glitched as hell.

None of these tricks work for the success version of the update, BTW. That just plain won't play at all.

So anyway, given that, I'm declaring that dialogue close enough to count as unused, and it stays in.

And I thought Thane's loyalty mission couldn't get any more buggy...

It's probably the buggiest one in the game.  The Shep dialogue especially.  One bug was really pretty handy though: the one where the stockboy doesn't trigger.  If you go into the room, Thane will just endlessly cycle through all of his "You're losing him" dialogue without actually getting to the "We failed" part.  Made it really easy to check that stuff.

^ yeah, in my many playthroughs of ME2 in the past, I've run into a couple variations of the stockboy bug alone. Too bad, since it is one of the better missions (well, I have a preference for dialogue-based missions as opposed to heavy action missions like Grunt's recruitment. Actually, one of the couple exceptions is Garrus' recruitment mission, since the music, presentation, and flow is so well done).

Corrected the Samara video. A used line snuck in.

If this is true, do you remember off the top of your head (long shot, and if you don't know, don't go out of your way for my sake) if Nyxeris' couple lines of dialogue changed after the installation of LotSB? I get this nagging feeling BioWare updated her lines slightly when you talk to her one-on-one about Liara and her career if you install the DLC (only these lines, none of the others--like when she talks to Liara, those are all the same IIRC). I could be remembering things wrong though...

No.  No dialogue for her was in the Lair files.

This one by Samara, I'm glad they cut. It's waaay too cheesy even for me.

The cut Garrus dialogues aren't bad, but the ones they kept are better.

I always thought Grunt could be *more* excited in his LM. Dunno why they cut those excellent Steve Blum deliveries.

I don't think they did.  It's probably due to a bug.  If you pay attention during the second round, he only has one line instead of three and he doesn't keep saying it, whereas in the other two, he'll cycle through all three.

It could also be an intentional feature, depending on how fast you kill the enemies in that mission. Usually I kill things so fast at range (all my Sheps carry the M-97 Viper with modified ammo), I don't hear Grunt say "Now this is a test!" But if I deliberately hold back he would occassionally say it.

Yeah, I didn't just hit that round and kill everything as fast as I could.  The entire point was to run around and try to get dialogue to trigger, not complete the mission.

Ok, I must have remembered it wrong, since you are the authority in this manner. Thanks!

I demand a team up of Weyrloc Guld and the Giant Miniature Space Hampster!

Anyone else notice he's voiced by the same guy who did Minsc?
