Anyone feel like there should be Unlockables for Veterans of the series.

The series has only been going for like 3 years (soon to be 4 year)
If it only takes 3 years to be a veteran than I am a Legend in Super Mario Bros.

I think they were discussing a possible achievement for importing a Shepard all the way from ME1. Plus, you get all the sidequest bonuses/cameos/emails, credits, resources, skill points, etc...for importing. I don't think it's fair for new players to also be missing out on weapons and costumes, unless those weapons and costumes can be unlocked via other means in ME3.
Lets talk about Dr. Pepper and all that "USA exclusive stuff" from viewpoint of an European - and then we can talk about "unfair" because of additional items for "vets". I'd like to see some extras for my complete playthrough: additional dialogues, additional side missions ... name it.
Also it's "unfair" towards buyers of normal ME2 or ME3 that they don't have CE stuff with ther version ... right?
(Sorry, had to rant)
I'm an American who grew up overseas, so I know all about USA exclusive stuff. It was annoying I couldn't get some of the armor.
You will be getting extra dialogue and sidequests. That's my point; veterans are ALREADY getting a lot of bonuses. And now you're asking for more?
CE is a different situation. I shouldn't have to explain how.

Really? It's been listed several times in this thread alone.
Sidequests, emails, cameos, experience points, credits, resources, Shepard's cabin items, etc...

That ^
If BW did bonus/unlockable/whatever for ME1 imports it would alienate new players to ME3.
No, it would be an incentive for them to buy and play ME1 & 2

That contains the collector's edition weapon and armor and the Dr. Pepper promotion items. All things that 360 and PC players had access to when the game came out.
Not if you're Eurotrash like me...

ME2 gave importers an achievement and bonuses as well as the emails and cameos. Doing the same w/ ME3 will be nothing special. I’m sorry, but I support giving something special for those who have stayed w/ the series from ME1. Whether that extra something special is increased bonus for galactic readiness, a special cameo or even a small item for Shepard’s cabin. Doesn't matter. However, I doubt this will happen, but if it does, I’m certain there would be a work around for PS3 players. While I don’t want to see anyone get screwed over, it would be nice to see some kind of long service reward for those of us who stuck with it so long.

Us 'veteran' players already get increased bonus for galactic readniess (via the sidequests done in the first two games), cameos from all those sidequests and other things (like saving Kirahee), and all the resources, credits, and xp from the previous games. I have no problem with long-term players getting an award, but as a long-term player myself, I think it would be more fair to have that extra thing be unlockable somehow just by playing ME3. For example if it's a special gun, have it be unlocked for new players by starting a new game + in ME3.

360 players and PC players in the US. Anyone without access to a 7-11 shop (i.e. the rest of the world) simply had to do without, so you'll have to forgive me for not being that bothered about whether PS3 players are put into the same situation.
To be be brutally honest, I don't understand why this is such a contentious issue. I don't consider it such a terrible thing for longtime players to ask for some bonus item just as a little handoff from the dev team. We're not talking full-blown expansions, or even anything that really makes much different at all.
Still, the extra bits and pieces in the CE edition have really sated my hunger for extras, so its really no biggy if nothing is forthcoming.

A new weapon, which was proposed in the OP, is something that makes a difference.

Forgive me, by 'not something that makes a difference', I meant to say something that didn't actually add to the gameplay. Which a single weapon is going to be. No more so than the armour pieces in the recon pack which the current crop of non-US PC and 360 players simply don't get, at any rate.

I still can't get the Blackstorm heavy weapon, but those who bought their ME2:CE through gamestop (where the Blackstorm was available) were able to buy the DLC pack through Bioware Marketplace which includes the Incisor sniper rifle when that was a Collector's Edition exclusive through Direct 2 Drive. <_<
Also, Xbox users who acted fast got all the DLC bonus weapons when they were released incorrectly through the XBox market and PS3 users got (at least) all Weapon DLC packs that were once limited to Collector Edition packs.
So If I get something for being a long-time ME series follower (except for Galaxy since I'm not buying an IPhone to play a game) that someone else won't be able to get because they didn't start at ground level then so be it. Life's unfair, deal with it.

This is largely my stance on the matter. Sure, these extra bits aren't really that important and don't really change the game, but being on the unlucky end of the stick has a funny habit of removing any concern I have for new players missing out on the same sort of stuff. At the end of the day, the game is still playable and they don't miss out on any *actual* game content - it's not like ME3's equivalent to LotSB is going to get witheld.
That said, the best way to avoid this kind of situation is to avoid all this stupid pre-order/promotion stuff in the first place and just offer all the players the chance to aqcuire all the content from the get go, so I guess I can see both angles.

Some of us here have followed Mass Effect since long before the first game even came out. I know there are others who still post that have been here since the X06 trailer. We are veterans of the series. It's really as good a word as any other.
On topic - Unlockables yes, achievements no. I'm pretty sure Microsoft have a rule that all achievements for a game need to be unlockable within that game. Not reliant upon criteria from others. Like ME2's achievement for "completing the game with a Shepard imported from ME1". They couldn't just leave it at that because of the imposed rules. They had to tack an "or complete ME2 twice" on the end.

I can't get the Blackstorm either, and I do think it's unfair. I feel like stuff like that should be included as DLC for everyone.
Yeah life isn't fair, but the way people like you take that concept is just stupid. Life isn't unfair for the sake of being unfair (in most cases).

I don't think you're understanding his point. He's not asking for unlockable extras to spite PS3ers - he's asking for unlockables to reward the longtime ME players, the fact that PS3ers can't qualify for that is just too bad but shouldn't be a reason why everyone else can't have it. It isn't his fault that ME1 never came out on PS3.
I think you're confusing indifference with dislike of PS3 players. The guy just doesn't think that PS3 players missing out is an adequate reason for the rest of the players to miss out too. Lets face it, the converse wasn't enough of a reason with the Recon Pack, so why should it be here?
Of course, as I said before, this kind of thing is the inevitable result when players get excluded from content just for the sake of it. I personally don't think any more of these restricted DLC are going to do anyone any good.

Can people stop referring to ME1 things as bonus content? ME1 was not some bonus game Bioware planned to just be for 360 from the get go. It's unfortunate those who are exclusively PS3 players can't play it but seriously, Mass Effect is a trilogy and all the important stuff you can pick. You may miss out on it but blame Bioware if it has to be somebody, not long time fans who just want a little recognition (a specifically xbox 360 achievment would be best) that they stayed with the series since the first game of the TRILOGY launched, 360 or PC or whoever bothered to go back and play the first game of the TRILOGY.
