I think they were discussing a possible achievement for importing a Shepard all the way from ME1. Plus, you get all the sidequest bonuses/cameos/emails, credits, resources, skill points, etc...for importing. I don't think it's fair for new players to also be missing out on weapons and costumes, unless those weapons and costumes can be unlocked via other means in ME3.

ME2 gave importers an achievement and bonuses as well as the emails and cameos.  Doing the same w/ ME3 will be nothing special. I’m sorry, but I support giving something special for those who have stayed w/ the series from ME1. Whether that extra something special is increased bonus for galactic readiness, a special cameo or even a small item for Shepard’s cabin.  Doesn't matter.  However, I doubt this will happen, but if it does, I’m certain there would be a work around for PS3 players.  While I don’t want to see anyone get screwed over, it would be nice to see some kind of long service reward for those of us who stuck with it so long.

Us 'veteran' players already get increased bonus for galactic readniess (via the sidequests done in the first two games), cameos from all those sidequests and other things (like saving Kirahee), and all the resources, credits, and xp from the previous games. I have no problem with long-term players getting an award, but as a long-term player myself, I think it would be more fair to have that extra thing be unlockable somehow just by playing ME3. For example if it's a special gun, have it be unlocked for new players by starting a new game + in ME3.

I understand wanting to make it as fair as possible and that would probably the best solution.  It’s just that in the age of “buy this game and get this dlc for another game” or “buy this game from this store and get something exclusive” it would be nice to be rewarded for simply being a loyal customer.  Maybe that’s naïve and that kind of thinking is laughable these days.  I don’t know.  If we get something special, good. If we get something special and others can get it in other ways, fine.  If we don’t get anything at all, then that’s fine too.

Yeah life isn't fair, but the way people like you take that concept is just stupid. Life isn't unfair for the sake of being unfair (in most cases).

I don't think you're understanding his point. He's not asking for unlockable extras to spite PS3ers - he's asking for unlockables to reward the longtime ME players, the fact that PS3ers can't qualify for that is just too bad but shouldn't be a reason why everyone else can't have it. It isn't his fault that ME1 never came out on PS3.

I think you're confusing indifference with dislike of PS3 players. The guy just doesn't think that PS3 players missing out is an adequate reason for the rest of the players to miss out too. Lets face it, the converse wasn't enough of a reason with the Recon Pack, so why should it be here?

Of course, as I said before, this kind of thing is the inevitable result when players get excluded from content just for the sake of it. I personally don't think any more of these restricted DLC are going to do anyone any good.

Thank you.

I would like to remind everyone that Casey has, in fact, confirmed some sort of "surprise" for us long-term fans of the series. I don't have a source because I don't remember where I read it. I think it was in the GameInformer reveal from April, but again, I don't really remember.

Secondly, while an achievement for playing through the whole trilogy with the same one Shepard is a very likely possibility, they would never make that the only way to unlock said achievement. It's in Microsoft's policy that ALL achievements for a specific game be unlockable through that same game, without requiring outside tie-ins. So, if there is indeed such an achievement in ME3, it will also be unlockable through other means, like playing through ME3 three different times or some such.

Nice, hopefully this is it, fingers crossed.

Considering the bonus in me2 was cash, xp, and resources, I assume that will probably be all that there is. If it were a gun, you can bet that the uninitiated would cry about it. A costume seems a bit irrelevant but I would go for that too. I will bet that an immediate achievement will also be in the mix like me 2 as well. Personally, I don't care either way, but everybody loves an easter egg.

Yeah looks like there probably will be an achievement for going all the way through from 1 to 3. And as far as 'Your Shepard' goes I know you carry everything through that goes along with importing.

Its great to get new players involved, and i think Bioware are going to great lengths to catering to the casual gamer who are going to be starting the series from ME3. But still feel that it would be a nice gesture if they did reward the hardcore Mass Effect player with some kind of exclusive in-game extra.

They are rewarding the hardcore Mass Effect player. You won't be seeing Gianna Parasini, Conrad Verner, Shiala, Rana Thanoplis, Helena Blake, Fist, etc...if you did not import a Shepard.

That's good.  I was supposed to look Shiala up after I wasn't doing whatever it is I do.

Oops - I won't be seeing Fist or Rana for...obvious reasons.  Thus is the burden of being a Paragade.

Halo has done it.

Gears of War has done it.

And no fans were alienated over it.

perhaps they can add the mako in the PS3 version, and PS3 owners can drive that around for 20 hours or so to get the same achivement....

I think maybe rewarding them with avatar's for the xbox and a theme would be nice

don't know who mentioned it, but it is in Phaedon's confirmed features that there will be a payoff for those playing all the way through....

much like some have mentioned, probably an Xbox live avatar or something, that PS3 users couldn't get anyways...

You know, there is a simple solution to that, give the PS3 owners the same benefit if they played the genesis comic AND beat ME2. Solved. My advisor fee is small, but its an even smaller price to pay for everyone being happy.

Congratulations you solved the PS3 problem, to bad this post will be missed.  For those who instead play ME3 first screw them, I expect to get nice rewards for playing the trilogy , or doing the crap comic in PS3 with ME2.  It is a simple matter that can be done.

I do think that it would be a great gesture, and can be something like an special item for the captain room in the normandy.

In what way does that not exclude PC players who have access to all three games?

I think Vets like my self should get the something in return and here the Casey saying that me Vets gonna get a surprise, but the question is what is it?

Additional dialogue?
extra armor and weapon?
or like it's been said before maybe a avatar outfit?

I would like them to hint some info about this surprise in next BW Pulse episode.

Yeah, I wonder what that surprise will be. Maybe an ending you can't achieve without playing through ME and ME2 (except PS3 players)? Maybe special scenes with your LI? Maybe some side missions?

Stay tuned :o

you're right, cause PC doesn't count, ah, i kid i kid....perhaps it will be a different way.....an avatar special designation for the BSN here, or like another mentioned a small medal or designation on IN GAME armour....didn't really think about the PC, my bad...perhaps some in game bonus from parasini or something, i'd be okay with a bonus mission that included her...

I have perfect surprise for us vets, we get to to meet a butthurt people in ME3, and here is the twist we get to actually shoot them,

Seriously I would like to see Casey in the game as a character or him voicing one.

I really couldn't care less about getting an exclusive gun or whatever. I'd rather play a balanced game.

IMHO, Items obtained in ME or ME 2 DLC should be made available to those who had those items as they progress to ME 3. For folks without the previous games and DLC should not be gaining the benefit of those items. In other words: the same way as ME 2 was done regarding ME. That is perfectly fair.

Pretty sure that's happening anyway.
