You shut down the "Is Ashley still your girl" thread and advised me to post at the "Ashley support thread." I have intentionally avoided posting on the thread you directed me to in an effort to prevent pissing off the members of that thread and to maintain a cordial atmosphere on the romance discussion board. BioWare clearly states that support threads are for support. If you are aware of the posts in the thread that you shut down you should realize that posting those sentiments will most certainly be viewed as trolling on that thread. Help me out here, what are you trying to accomplish?

Because it seems to me as if you are laying the ground work for a flame war on the board or at least trying to censor my opinions because any attempt to express a differing opinion that runs counter to the support of Ashely will be met with hostility and resentment.

Not by me. Honestly differing opinions is what makes this forum interesting. If everyone had the same opinions on everything it'd be dull. I like hearing the reasons behind why someone thinks about a character differently than I do, as long as it is logical reasoning.

remember how this thread used to be about how much we all loved tali?

good times.

And that is one reason why I hate character threads. Sure loving a character is great, but these character threads forcing discussion and debate into only praise is ridiculous.

You can't discuss anything negative about a character in the character threads because the community in them just wont go along with it (this is a thread for tali fans get out!), yet if you make a thread about it outside of the tali thread, it gets locked and you are told to discuss tali in the... you guessed it tali thread.

The us vs them mentality just isn't healthy for the forums.

Now saphra might get rude quite often but that doesn't discount the points being made. I can see where saphra is coming from here. Rael commited war crimes, (if not to the geth, then to the crew of the ship, they can't all be part of the project. Its a big ship) and to saphra's point of view he needs to pay for them.

I always get tali exonerated, but I can see it as a selfish act depending on why you did it. An entire ship dead because of rael, and shep covers it all up because tali wants him/her to preserve his good name. I see that as a good thing. Tali is a person, she's only "human" if you know what I mean. Her selfish plea is a moment of weakness made in a horrible situation, she panicked. Hell I would think that given enough time, Tali would get over the fact her father had to pay for his crimes and forgive shep, at least partially if he decides to tell the fleet the truth.

The choice to reveal rael's work isn't there to torture tali, its a choice, another example of morale ambiguity bioware has been trying to infuse into their game for years. Their are legitimiate reasons to choose any option in a bioware game.

We argued this on Tali's thread and nothing happened to anybody. We should do it again sometime. Isn't there a thread in the ME1 and ME2 topics about the decisions on Tali's loyalty mission already? It's been dead for a month. Maybe we can argue again.

I've never heard of the Stanley strait. There are straits at Øresund, Skagerrak and the Bosphorus though.

Just reopen that thread ... that debate doesn't really fit in the Ash-support thread since it's kinda lengthy and won't satisfy all ppl / Ash fans.

'nuff said.

We already have two rather lengthy Ashley threads opened. Do we really need a third?

There can never be too many threads on a single subject, as the Talimancers so graciously have taught us.

Given the "Is Ashley still your girl?" thread went several months and over 40 pages without incident (that I'm aware of) I find it odd that it got closed. And honestly, I don't think the debate would be a good fit for the support thread. It is, after all, a support thread, and I don't think questions of "Did Ash betray Shepard on Horizon"?" would go over well between pictures of Ash-themed artwork and debates of whether she should shoot Udina in ME3. This debate needs to be on more neutral territory if it's going to flourish.

As such, yeah, I think it should be reopened.

Edit:  What other threads?  I count the support thread and "Who's the better Spectre" as the only ones with any kind of Ashley theme.

I also think the thread should be reopened. Dissenting opinion should have a place to be heard.

Whether you stay loyal to Ashley or not is a valid topic for the Ashley thread. It should be freely discussed on her board.
On the other hand I was going through it the other day and I saw someone accused of trolling because they didn't like how she was rendered in ME2...
I see your dilemma.

The support thread isn't made for lengthy debates about "did Ashley lashed against Shepard on Horizon". You saw that thread went over 40 pages - with interesting postings. Now try to think about it if the same topic would come up in the support thread - it won't last 40 pages, not even 40 postings.

Not because of "you are a troll" interrupts but because not all Ashley fans want to go through that stuff over and over again. I can only speak for myself, but I'm fine with Horizon and Ashley and totally understand her reaction. Especially since Shepard acted odd - Mr. Suave failed epically on Horizon.

No, it was the writers who screwed the pooch on that one. The whole scene sucked.

Truefax, Ravensword. I stated that numerous times in that closed thread: writers did a bad job so that Shepard can't get a useful line out of his mouth and the VS is a bit harsh. Also lack of content to meet VS after Horizon instead of a simple mail doesn't help either.

Yes well. Shepard can't say 'I'm sorry I was such a jerk, Ash. See that entire scene was a classic case of sucky writing' in game, now can he?

Imo: Shepard acted like that because on some intelectual or emotional level, he did not believe or could not understand that two years has passed for everyone else and it had only been about a month or two for him. And Ash's right royal kick up the ass sort of put it into perspective for him.

its a cop-out if ever you heard one, but its better than nothing.

I think the writers just got lazy.
