I bought DA origins a while back played a bit then went back to another game. When I returned to play DA origins I found that my CD wouldnt work or rather that my computers drive didnt seem to be recognising it. The cd is in good condition and has been cleaned. The CD works on my husbands computer - but I want it on my lap top to keep me busy when im away and have no internet connection.

The computers disk drive has been checked and there are no problems with it. In fact, a microsoft tool i downloaded to check problems with running cd's said that there was a problem with the cd. But it works on othe computers.....

so - i looked for fixes, and tried one linked on here - that didnt work.  I heard that there may be a problem with security that bioware put on the cds - ok, but how do i get round this?  Mine is a geniune copy ofc and I have the activation key etc.

Any ideas?

Any help most appreciated

Does your computer recognise other CDs?

If it's working on a different computer I'm inclined to think the fault is with your comp (or the CD/DVD drive), not the CD itself.

Yes it runs other cd's / dvd's fine - i heard that this happens only with some computers and its a security thing but I cant remember where I saw that written and what to do about it.

The best thing you can do is source and external disc drive that works and use that to install the game from

It's probably caused by code segments purposely added to make copying difficult, which is why it affects burners, and not plain readers. It can show up the way it did in your case, after a period of normalcy, which could mean you can really clean the disk and drive especially well, and perhaps get back to where you were, or forget the disk entirely, swapping for the EA digital version (free to owners of other versions).
