- Mercenary -> Zaeed

- Stripper ->
- Green dude -> Vega
So what about a beautiful and powerful girl with an asian touch. Wait ... Kasumi ...
Na, I have no idea yet. Guess she could either be another Infiltrator without Kasumi's stealth attack but powerful sniping attack (= replacement for Garrus if he died in ME2?) or Vanguard or so ... dunno. I also wonder if she's human or not.

It's pretty much a given there will be a female squadmate complementing James' inclusion. This has been a fixed pattern since ME1.
So she'll be either a tech or biotic with powerful attacks?
At least that makes sense to me.
Still: Parasini is epic win!

Being swappable would mean a similar background with Vega so Alliance grunt, possibly sniper or engineer.

What else do you suggest? Everyone can die during SM. Except for Liara, no squadmate position and profession is granted, therefore they have to create new squadmates that will be in everyone's game and cover all key, necessary professions.CrutchCricket wrote...
Ugh I'd rather not have another permanent squad position lost to a newbie since those are in short supply.
Not gonna happen, it's almost 100% sure everyone gets Vega, he's there to fill the tank role and for all new players, male & female.CrutchCricket wrote...
But since speculate we must, I would get behind the idea that she's swappable with Vega based on the VS. If you saved Ashley you get Vega. If you saved Kaidan you get Mystery girl. I'm basing this on new LI potential and keeping that balanced. I couldn't care less what class she ends up being.

Jacob & Miranda
James & ______
I'd hold out hope for Kasumi, since we really don't need *another* human squadmate (Seriously, that'll put us to at least 9 human squaddies so far), and she was nearly unanimously liked, but I doubt it. It'll definitely be human, female, and romanceable, though. And Bi, of course, like Jimmy Boy; Gotta address all the complaints you can with the new kids on the block.

Not quite, you must have two surviving team members to survive yourself. So two survivors plus Liara and the VS and you're back up to 4 squadmates. I know it'd be hell trying to code all the permutations of that. I'm not against new squadmates per se. I'm more against new squadmates+limited spots= lesser positions for ME2 favorites (and favoritism obviously plays a role). If they weren't so adamant about keeping the squad at 6, I would have no problems with Vega or Mystery Girl.IsaacShep wrote...

It seems likely that we already know who the two human squad members we meet at the beginning are: Vega and the VS (usually Ashley). I don't think there will be a third human squaddie at that stage. So, it appears the pattern is changing slightly in that area. Two humans, but one a returning character.
Obviously, that doesn't preclude other human squad members joining later on, but the pattern you're describing is likely filled: Ashley/Kaidan, Miranda/Jacob, VS/Vega.

And if these 2 survivors just happen to be soldier-tanks Grunt & Zaeed? That's the problem with SM, the variable is 2 out of 12 (actually, out of 13 since there's also Morinth). Just because you have 2 people survive doesn't guarantee these squadmates cover basic/key professions for ME3.CrutchCricket wrote...

Back to 2. And as utterly simple as VS variable is compared to SM, the fact remains if you have Ash survive, you lack Sentinel. If you have Kaidan survive, you lack Soldier. So Liara brings the only guaranteed basic profession since she will be in absolutely everyone's game, no matter what happened in ME1 & ME2.CrutchCricket wrote...

Exactly and it would take years to do that which is why it won't happen. Not a chance. And they keep the squad smaller to allow more dialogues & greater interaction with and between the squad, something ME2 lacked because of the ridiculous size of the squad.CrutchCricket wrote...

Liara says hi. And Kelly, Morinth, Samara, Consort etc. BioWare was never scared of implementing bisexual female LIs, let's not pretend they were.BatmanPWNS wrote...

That's the official line but I'm mighty curious if keeping "more interaction" and expanding squad size is really that prohibitive in terms of cost. I'd also be interested in finding out how much more interaction they'll really have.
Don't know if a detailed breakdown and rebuttal of my last post was necessary seeing as I acknowledged the necessity of new characters. But until they stand on their own merit they're coming in at the expense of old favorites and people will dislike that. Doesn't matter that Bioware backed themselves into this corner. That's the way I and others feel.
Not the place for it though, so continue speculating on Mystery Girl.
