Incidentally, Chris' original did mention using the forum's SEARCH function (although it's really so badly broken, the best choice is adding a site: redirector to a Google or Yahoo search), site:social.bioware.com  .

    Chris Priestly wrote...

    Hello, Dragon Age fans.

This forum is for fans and customers of Dragon Age Origins, to share help and assist each other with technical issues.

Please remember that official game support for Dragon Age Origins by Electronic Arts.

If you have a Dragon Age Origins PC issue, official support can be found through EA Customer support here: http://support.ea.co...y=0&p_redirect=

(Edit here:  I suspect that link has been changed in the past couple of years, and it was the ME2 link, most likely))

Please try to help one another with problems, but remember the best way to ensure accurate support is to contact the official support provided.  (Edited by G. here: When you want to pose a question for your fellow game players, especially for the PC Game version, these are the basics previously laid down.)

    1.  It’s important to identify which product is experiencing the problem.

      a.   Is it the digital version or the disk

      b. Media: if it's a digital download, also from which vendor)

    2.  System Details

      a. Processor / Core count / Core Speed / Main RAM Amount

      b. Display Adapter / VRAM / Driver Version (just saying "latest drivers" doesn't help -- Edited: only ATI / nVIDIA cards are supported)

      c. Sound Adapter / Driver Version

      d. Operating System (& service pack if applicable)

      e. Direct X Version

    3.  Problem Details

      a.  When it comes to problem details, think about the five basic questions: Who? What? When? Where?  Why? Okay, so “Who?” doesn’t really apply here, but the others do.

      b.  What?  What is the nature of the problem that you’re seeing?

      c.  When?  When does the problem occur? Every time you engage in a particular action or only after so many hours of play?

      d.  Where? Where does the problem occur? Is the problem localized to a particular planet or does it occur everywhere?

      e.  Why? As much as possible, can you isolate the problem to a specific set of steps?

If you follow these guidelines, and provide the requested information when posting, it will increase the likelihood that someone will be able to help you diagnose the problem and find a solution.

Please report issues, after checking these steps, in new threads.

P. S.  Please use every day business style punctuation and spelling.

Chris' original message (very slightly edited to eliminate the Mass Effect references), had been posted in the combined ME-1 and Me-2 forum that was all that there was for ME Tech on the Social Forums at first.

DAO seems to have run its race and has been replaced in importance by other games. Normally, by Thanksgiving, game forum activity has ratcheted back upward from its summertime ebb. That hasn't happened here, this year, nor in fact, have the Bioware Social forums in general shown the usual rebirth.

For the few new arrivals still asking questions, there is hardly anyone left on hand to answer, and if you don't include basic data, you will get nothing (and if yours is another boring reiteration of a common question, I personally have little interest in regurgitating the same old information still another time. That's what the Stickies and the Archives are all about).

Incidentally, anyone unable to write relatively clear requests in English isn't supposed to use their own language in here.  The readers here are not supposed to have to translate from something else and then answer in anything else.  English is the language for asking questions, whether or not an active translation is available to "Leet", "Pirate", Durch, French, or what have you.

Perhaps some of the "Read First" stickies spend so much time with the basic hardware, that impatient types, and / or those with learning disabilities stop reading before the end. Chis' version is succinct, even terse. No pretty graphics . .

The various stickied threads are up there to provide the answers that the new arrivals need. Refer to them, rather than just re-asking one of the same old boring questions that has already been asked and answered so very many times.
