I believe that you do not understand her character all that well if you are making that comment.

Ashley was using the metaphor to point out that even though Humanity is an 'important' member of the greater society, the council races will think of their own needs first before humanity's. It's a comment she makes based on her own inexperience with dealing with Alien politics and aliens in general coupled with the 'failed defensive' of Shanxi. Ash is distrustful of aliens, where as Shepard is not. Shepard has had the benefit of experience where Ash has not. Its a common misconception.

Although, I wouldn't stop her if she wanted to put down the sons of b!tches on the council like dogs for not doing a singe goddamned think about the invasion.

I trust Ash, but getting her to trust me again is going to be the hard part.

Ashley mentioned that she can't tell the difference between aliens and animals on the citadel. There's not much about this banter that can be misunderstood.

In terms of how they act in war or in peace, if someone acts atrociously or does something we consider brutal or board line barbarism, we refer to those people as animals. Sometimes the worst of the worst are called 'Animals' or 'monsters'.

How is that any different?

edit: ... I can sense this is going to become a flame war. So I will drop this and merely state that Ash's hostilities, distrust and caution is simply human nature when confronted with the unknown.

That's a bad quote because it's "out of context". I believe (but don't know) if Ashley is referring to the Keepers - they look indeed more like animals than like aliens. Also the Hanar share some looks to jellyfish and the Elcor have something common with cattle. It may sound racist but it isn't.
But yeah, we can't be sure if that's true. It sounds shallow and it's wrong - but it shouldn't be overrated. It's a blunt stupid statement, but Ashley can do better and does, if you continue her dialogues and use paragon statements so you can shift her point of view a lot.

Actually, I believe if mankind meets some aliens one day we'll say something similar. And that's only because it's quite possible humanoids are rare and not common variants of sentient lifeforms.

Didn't say it was. Just one of the reasons my Sheps weren't filled with belief on their ability to get the job done to begin with.

It's not like they were pushing buttons. The Beacon went off the moment someone got close enough to it: eventually, someone was going to get close to it regardless.

Sure, but how about it goes off when someone gets close to it attempting to study it rather than a soldier just failing to overcome their curiosity? In any case, you aren't necessarily right anyway. The beacon being "activated" like that might have prompted knowledgeable professions to keep their distance before approaching it. Caution, you know?

That's saren's fault. he used the beacon and damaged it before anyone else could use it. also the beacon used proximity detectors to activate the mission was to secure the beacon, how is it their fault for following mission obejectives.

Quole, if you can't trust them after they pick your knocked out ass up and carry you back to the ship, then you obviously can't trust anyone that has your back, including your precious tali who does nothing of the sort.Image IPB

The "I can't tell the aliens from the animals" statement  is a lonsgstanding and very unfortunate bug.  Ash is only supposed to make that comment around the Keepers.  Which she, as well as everyone else on the Citadel is uncertain if they are sentient or not.  Plus they look like bugs.

Ash saying that line all over the Citadel is like Samara saying "embrace eternity" everywhere on Zakiera War.  Or Jack going "I will destroy you!"

Actually, the opposite-gender VS is the one who carries you back to the ship, and as I almost always save the same-gender one, your reason for trusting them is something that never actually happened in any of my games. Regardless, I'm willing to trust the VS, provided that they are willing to do the same (which, on Horizon, they clearly weren't).

Not true, they both carry you back to the ship they even say so. "The lieutenant and I carried you back to the ship" is what Ashley says.Image IPB

yeah they're so useless that they not only get promoted twice (Ashley to being a commissioned officer, Kaidan promoted ABOVE Shepard) but they also become Spectre's. yeah they're such wastes fo space that they're not among the best soldiers in the galaxy. If that's the case Shepard is useless as well and if you're not a spectre then why are you alive if oyu're less than useless?Image IPB/sarcasm

They are the reason that Shepard interacted with and received the message from the beacon.

I always felt that Shepard struggling with receiving the message is why the beacon blows ... You notice how when Shepard interacts with the second beacon on Virmire, (s)he does it willingly and the beacon doesn't explode?

The Vs is just one more person who set Shepard on her/his course of saving the galaxy.

Well.. Shepard saved the galaxy several times. I wouldnt say thats useless. The VS on the other hand is completely useless. They also betray Shepard on Horizon. Completely useless.

The VS helped SHepard the first time, and they wish you luck on Horizon, that hardly counts as a betrayal. If they'd knocke dShepard out and dragged them to arcturus then that'd be a betrayal, but they do no such thing even though they have every right to slap some cuffs on Shepard and arrest them.

Ah Quole, you delightfully irritating troll. Once again you venture out from under the bridge to bash every character you can get to. Your Protoss roots continue to shine through.
