 I have attempted to post an image into my forum signature (using the EXACT same banner that i see EVERYWHERE), but when i go to see if it worked, all I get is a blue square with a question mark inside of it...

Since you are new to the forums, you may still have to wait a few more days.
(IIRC, there's a 'waiting period' for new members that can last up to a week.)
