It might be because I'm hoping, perhaps foolishly, that input put here is listened to and matters.

It may be because I care MORE about what happens to Bioware than simply, "Oh well. Screw them. Who else is making RPGs?"

When I was a child I played the games that I liked and normally I never gave a f*ck about what genre the game belongs. And it's something that I keep doing nowadays.
I don't care if it's a FPS, RTS or a J-RPG, if the game is good, is GOOD. Period, end of discussion.
Bithc*ing because the game is more or less RPG and treating like sh*t the other genres that doesn't belong to that is stupid and childish.

You're assuming Bioware will never make a NEXT game.

Conceivably, my input might influence the next Bioware game.

I, for one, don't want to see a coop Dragon Age 3 with Hawke and Warden.

It may have lost a point or two off it's charisma score after DA2, Witch Hunt and The Arrival.

You're both right and wrong with your comment. No, Bioware is not my girlfriend. But you're also wrong that there's no personal connection you develop if you've been with the same company for closing in on a couple of decades. When a company has been your favorite game developer for the majority of your gaming life, and you see them basically saying that they don't value you anymore, then yes....it does feel like you're being dumped.

It's not a great analogy, but I also don't think it's completely off-base in terms of the emotional impact. There isn't a single company out there that I've been more loyal to and more supportive of than Bioware in my entire life.

I understand, intellectually, that Bioware's just a company like any other that exists solely to maximize profits.

But intellect doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't a shock when the most reliable developer of your entire career starts "cheating" on you.

Are we even discusssing ME3's Development anymore? If we are I think they are doing pretty good so far. I may be in the minority, but I'm actually pleased they aren't showing most of the rpg stuff. While some people are complaining about not seeing enough rpg/ story I'm willing to bet those same people complained with ME2 spoiling the entire plot in it's marketing. As for the Co-Op I can't really say much about it since I haven't had a chance to play it yet.... Waiting for that demo to roll on in before I have a actual opinion...

Fair comment.

I think Bioware would be getting more of the benefit of the doubt if their recent track record was more consistent. A few years ago I wouldn't even bother coming to the forum because:

1. Bioware is awesome.
2. Bioware is ALWAYS awesome

Essentially:

1. Don't tell me the details
2. You always release solid gold so any details would just be spoilers.

I don't think that way anymore. Now, yeah, I don't trust Bioware to say, "Trust us. The RPG rocks."

I look at recent releases and say, "Nope. I don't trust you. Show me something to make me believe the RPG rocks, particularly when you're showing all of this crap that I don't care about and am not interested in. How do I know you're paying any attention on the RPG?"

All I know is, if ME3 comes out and people end up asking things like, "Where is the exploration?" or "where are the vehicle sections?" or "why are all the levels linear as hell?" or "why are there so many emails instead of proper consequences?" and BioWare respond with something like, "Sorry, we didn't have the time or resources?" then I'm going to be pointing straight at Kinect support and multiplayer being added.

I understand what you're arguing, but I can't say I know how you feel.  I used to be a hardcore Nintendo fantard back in the day.  When they started releasing a bunch of hyper-commercialized crap all the time, I just quit playing, occasionally snooping around the internet for word on when something good might come out.

Blizzard, same thing--StarCraft was one of the best games I ever played.  StarCraft 2... not what I'd hoped for (still good, though).  I felt a little sad that yet another dev was only in it for the money now, but there were other games to play.

So I've had two major developers let me down.  In neither case did I feel betrayed.

If the game actually sucks because they "didn't have the time or the resources," then yeah, you can all tell me you told me so.

slow down there champ... don't even compare ME1-ME2 to starcraft.
first off Starcraft being an RTS doesn't take anything away from starcraft 2 the RTS. if your whining about the story and how it was presented sure i can understand that. But ME1 and ME2 are almost entirely different. In fact ME1 is an RPG while ME2 is just a shooter.

If ME2 was "just a shooter," I would not have enjoyed it so much.

i think you should really go back and play ME2 two more times without skipping scenes... then see if your ready to claw your own eyes out like most RPG fans are ready to do.
