being a soldier is to be masculine in your everyday behaviour. plain and simple. Having served with female soldiers I know this all too well. They either man up or tend to become useless community bicycles. Sad but true. Ask any soldier today and you will hear the same tale.

Our squad MG was an example (and the only one I know of) that had what it took to truly be an infantryman. The strength, the speed, and the sheer endurance that being a soldier requires. And boy, at the end of it she was as no-nonsense efficency, boisterous tough guy as the rest of us.

A fair point I suppose, though I would point out that this is a fantasy videogame.

I personally am certain that when viewed from behind, this female still walked differently. It's just a part of nature.

Well then let everybody have wings and fly, who cares about walking..

I think you're rather missing the point of what I was saying.
Take paragon Shepard for example. S/he does a lot of things that would likely lead to failure IRL. But some people like playing paragon because they like the fantasy that a hero can be heroic and still beat the odds. Similarly, I think some people like the idea that Femshep can be feminine (not necessarily in an exaggerated way) and still kick ass / have a complex character / etc.

I totally agree, but I had quite the debate on that already and it's one of those arguments where people (well some people anyway) are so determined to belive what they want to believe that nothing will sway them. They insist that the shape of the pelvis has nothing to do with how people walk, despite the overwheling evidence to the contrary.

But what sort of point is that? Surely it's important for a story focused game to have good realistic characterization including taking backgrounds into account? It's not as if we're mixing highschool and military like in FFVIII?

Yes I agree the story is important. It is about Sheaprd being in the military. Where a mage from a circle in DA for example could be feminine and flamboyant both female and male.

Were you a friend of this girl? You can't really say how she acted all the time unless you were, she wouldn't have opened up around you.

TROLL SPOTTED.

Agreed. OP obviously trolling and obviously not a FemShep fan.

Oh god, not the "you're not a real fan" argument.

"I love you, but I hate everything that you are!" Doesn't really work on fictional characters.

It's like saying "I love pizza, except I think the bread should be only 1/10th the size, a lot thinner, and actually flatbread; and the topping should be made seperately with less or no cheese and sprinkled onto the bread in the end." Well then go have some tacos, pizza obviously ain't for you.

So if the walking/sitting animations change there's nothing left huh? I guess BW should fire Hale, and all of their facial animation staff as well, since they're apparently adding nothing to the character.

Hey, I just remembered a game that had perfect unisex walking animation - Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
Check out how how she walks. And the male animation was the same.

When you're stuck on a military base known as mordor by the local populace 3 hours from... well anywhere. You either socialize or go nuts.

She was my squadmate and I consider her a friend (you pretty much have to become friends with your squad). We basically lived In the same corridor for a year working together basically every day. She cut her hair short, wore no makeup, jewelry or feminine wear when she was in civilian clothes at all.

Please don't take this wrong, but was she a lesbian? That might have affected her behavior.

I think femshep should walk a little less man like. Other than that I don't really care much cause I usu play manshep. But seriously, dem animations need to change.

You seem to have an issue with manly/unfeminine women.

You wouldn't like me in real life.

I think that Shepard is still a pre-set character. People should understand that he/she is not completely under their control and that it is in Bioware hands.

Attitude wise yes, I'd say so. Exactly? no. Although "like the guys" is a pretty broad statement in such diverse bunch. She didn't oil herself up in front of a mirror regularly like some of the guys i knew did and neither did she collect WH40k like some other people did.

Here is a video of our platoon in case you have doubts.

Not true at all. Don't hate me, but I actually find myself attracted to females like that. The TA in one of my labs, I could have sworn she was a lesbian, and I liked her. Turned out she wasn't though; I was genuinely shocked. Also, I'm completely in love with Shane (Kate Moennig).

I just feel there's a distinct difference between the two genders. Not one better than the other, just different.
