Splitscreen/Offline Co-op - ME3 Multiplayer has none. Why?

Since Bioware has now stated that ME3 MP will NOT have offline splitscreen/co-op, the question is... why? Now, I know many people really couldn't care less. If they did, this thread would have gotten bigger at a much faster rate. However, the largest shooter franchises today use splitscreen, and one of them also uses the Unreal Engine (Gears of War 3). It seems as if EA is incredibly adverse to the concept of Split-screen, perhaps in some feeble attempt to sell more copies. Whatever their reason, I think it would fantastic if they shared that with us, as having an entire studio and budget dedicated to multi-player leaves very, very little room for excuse.

Image IPBok, then. I'd prefer if you actually add something, but I guess if you want to post a pointless gif about how many damns you are giving which has zero relevance to anything, be my guest.

I very much agree with this.

I'm not sure I'll be able to get a good internet connection by the time ME3 comes out. This has to be the best point ever!

For some, this isn't a big deal. Personally, though, I want to make my ME3 experience complete in every way, and I don't much care how "complete" my experience will be if I don't play multiplayer. It's like a directors cut of a movie that includes some never-before-seen scenes. You don't watch it because you've seen the movie already, you watch it because you want to see what the scenes add (or subtract) to the movie as a whole.

So I hope they make Offline Co-op!

The worst part is this seems to be a trend in gaming; simply ditching offline/splitscreen co-op. I have no idea why, but it needs to stop.

Make people play in LAN/online. Two copies or more bought of game instead of one. Profit. :wizard:

What are the actual details of the Mulitplayer? Is there LAN?

I doubt that they even considered a LAN possibility. That would require a specific programming that probably would be of no use for the majority of ME3 MP players. At the moment the underlying programming for enabling selection of scenarios, selection of servers etc. probably is similar to all 3 platforms. Enabling LAN (and then also the checking that no modification has been done to MP part files) would need additional resources ... that would also mean it would need to be justified but the amount of people using this feature ...

I'd say it is probably more likely that one get a split screen support then LAN support ...

but that is just my own assumptions.

1. Connection to internet required (online server, starting game)
2. Connection to LAN possibility (server or P2P), no internet required.
3. Offline, without any connection

If Co-op content is different than single player content, then I support offline co-op solo playing.

I couldn't agree more with this. I LOVE playing co-op with someone in the same room as me and I only ever seem to be able to do that with recent games because myself and my partner each have our own Xbox. We still play Streets of Rage Co-op on the Mega Drive. Local Co-op can be great fun or even a combo of both local and online, 2 people on the same xbox playing on line, like you can in Left 4 Dead

It's an optional feature in a single-player trilogy conclusion, constantly fishing for additional features to implement isn't exactly beneficial to resource management... we can play online co-op or solo the missions, that's good enough for me.

i support offline split-screen co-op!

no offline co-op means that i won't use it and for me that just means this feature was wasted in the total product (i repeat: for me).
i'll only use it if it has offline co-op

Supported.

More for the benefit of others than myself, there are people on the other side of the globe I'll be playing multiplayer with. Thank you for creating this thread though, it's definitely important. That said, you can play Galaxy At War solo, so even when the online play is dead you can still complete all the missions.

yeah, but that kinda defeats the whole point of adding multiplayer.

this is why offline multiplayer is important.

Christ, I'm sick to death of developers limiting MP to online play.
When I'm playing multiplayer I like to be able to smack the other players when they ****** me off.

Taking this away from me is just poor game design.

Yeah I hope we can play with bots - I don't want to play with rubbish players and have my game suffer! Lol, that makes me such a ****

Count me in on the splitscreen/offline co-op bandwagon. There need to be more games with that functionality, not less.

Either lan or playing side by side with someone on Xbox would be nice, but it seems like the industry is moving away from that these days :(

Oh well, there will always be some developers who get it.

They dont give a crap about the overwhelming rejection of Origin, they're just going to ignore this too.
