I thought splitscreen was a given. I share an Xbox with the only guy I know who plays ME and it'd be the worst thing ever if we can't play together ._.

I would like offline coop too, There are never any games that have split screen coop. It's as if game companies think no one has friends that like to come over any more.

Well, the Gears of War co-op mode that the ME multiplayer is so often compared to has splitscreen, and so do other co-op games like Portal 2 and Resident Evil 5. Is splitscreen really all that rare?

I'm 100 percent for this. I'd love to play ME3 with my kids.

Split screen support have to be planned early in the development cycle because it's a resource hog(dual rendering, dual input mechanics) - if it's not in the game now as it appears not to be then there are no way they are getting it in with the time left.

Not seeing this happening no matter what.

Well lot of people might have a brother or sister who would like to join in. Offline co-op is a good idea either way.

Not to mention roomates (we're talking collage people here especially), family members, gaming friends etc. I would've played the split-screen co-op missions with my boyfriend for example. Seriously, lack of split-screen offline co-op doesn't make sense to me. Especially in future it would be useful, when it will be much harder to find good co-op players online due to declining popularity.

Did the developers, at any point, mention that you could play co-op with people in the same room with you? I haven't seen that anywhere so I am always confused about people requesting split-screen co-op.

If you have to ask for split-screen co-op doesn't it mean that you don't have it by default? Then, doesn't that imply that you will be the only one at the controls?

How exactly will 4 people be able to play with the same screen, in the same house taking multiple cover positions unless they're playing with a movie theater screen of some sort?

The same way we did it with games like Goldeneye long long ago when a 30" TV was massive

The fact that they did not is exactly why I started this thread.

And yes, but that doesn't really have any bearing on anything. If you have offline co-op, then you and one friend could beat the controls, and it would be just you two. If in XBL or PSN, you'd be the only one using the screen, and there would be up to three other people with you.

Games like Borderlands managed to have 2player splitscreen just fine, although 1p per screen on XBL. Modern Warfare 2 has the splitscreen co-op missions, but that was it (campaign and online were 1p only). In MP games (offline) you could have four people on one screen. In Halo Reach, you can have four people per screen, online and off. You don't need a massive TV, but it helps a lot. Having two people play offline co-op splitscreen is one of the most basic aspects of a multiplayer game. Sometimes, I just don't want to go online, and sometimes, I do, but with a friend.

Hell, CoD: Blops has splitscreen online play. That game blows. Hard. Please don't tell me that Blops will have a better thought-through multiplayer than Mass Effect 3.

I'd like split screen. I don't want to fork out for a live subscription to play the co-op portion of the game with my brother who is sitting down the freaking hall in his room playing the game.

Yeah go on.
Would be nice to have the option of playing the coop story online, offline/splitscreen and solo.

Goldeneye had 4 small screens to get that done.  Sort of like split-screen times two.  The movie theater reference was actually hinting at wide-screen.  Basically the screen would be wide enough so that you'd see the entire field and not need split screen to move from place to place.

What I'm trying to get at is you'll have this:

Image IPB

while you and your friend both sit in your respective homes?  That the picture is something you'll both see though you're not even in the same house?

Then you'll have this:

Image IPB

playing with three of your friends?  Each of you in your respective homes (not in the same room)?

If that's what people are asking for in each of their respective homes I have to wonder what the point is?  Again, the reason I'm asking is that I haven't seen any mention that people will be able to play co-op in the same room.

No no, two or more players in the same house, on the same console, on the same TV. That's why this thread was created... to let Bioware know that something that should be standard (and was standard for a long time) should be included in the game. As far as I know, it isn't, but that's what I'm trying to change.

I don't really care about 4p splitscreen (although it would be interesting getting my friend and brother into the game), I would like at least the first image (2players) to be implelented. Again, both players on the same console, in the same house, on the same TV.

Offline co-op via splitscreen (as well as bots to fill empty slots) would be awesome imo.

Bioware must get this message.

They dont give a crap about the overwhelming rejection of Origin, they're just going to ignore this too.

Bioware caring or not caring about the overwhelming rejection of Origin is irrelevant. They are owned by EA, EA demands Origin, therefore Bioware must comply.

then so mcuh for biowares claims that they call the shots with their games.
the more i see of what is being amatuerishly shoehorned into the third installment, the more cynical i am becoming of the future of bioware games. anybody else remember how good madden and nhl used to be before ea got the greasy mitts on them?

I am not thrilled by being forced to have meatbags by my side while playing co-op. I support the offline / bots co-op.
