MW2 does not have online co-op support, only the SpecOps mission. Blops only has online co-op support. I wonder if MW3 will have one, both, or neither.Mr. Gogeta34 wrote...

The craziest thing about splitscreen support is that, when it was first implemented in the early games, the TVs were too small to enjoy it. Now that plenty of people have large enough TVs to make split screen incredibly reasonable, very few people implement it.
Its probably because of some preconception that splitscreen is "too old" and "only '90s consoles did that" (or whatever other stupid remark). And since most consumers don't care much about it, it'll just fade away.
Remember, its not good ideas that endure, but whatever "sticks with the crowd", because that's what brings profit.
However that notion got spread around heard wrong. Practically the biggest modern shooters have split-screen support
Gears of War
Gears of War 2
Gears of War 3
Halo
Halo Remake
Halo 2
Halo 3
Halo ODST
Halo Reach
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty BlackOps
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3
Unreal Tournament 3
Rage
Uncharted 3
Killzone 3
Portal 2
Indeed, quite a few games have co-op support. How many of those were released by EA? None. Battlefield 3 has no online or offline co-op support. I play very few games throughout the year, so when a game leaves a feature like splitscreen out, it makes it that much worse, and with the exception of a few games like Dragon Age and Mass Effect, the only time I play games is with a friend, and I've been trying to get said friend into Mass Effect since the first one came out. ME3 could be the time to do it... if they add splitscreen.

But I have tons of local friends that I can play with. I really, really hope that ME3 has multiplayer.

The multiplayer mode in Mass Effect 3 is not an RPG. It's a horde-mode-ish multiplayer shooter.

Battlefield 3 is primarily a PC game (so it makes dev cycle sense why they didn't think to incorporate split-screen support).
Madden 12 (an EA game) supports offline co-op.

Why don't we stop and think for just a minute what would that include? First, incredible amount of coding NOT originally planned on, second - what would the gameplay of a second played look like?
Say, one player assumes role of Shepard, another of one of his team-mates (the only way I see without having to include extra co-op only levels, since you almost always play with teammates anyway).
Since about half the gameplay time is shooting, and another half (or maybe more, depending on gameplay style) is spend aboard your ship or other "hubs", talking to other people and cutscenes, your partner you're playing with is essentially spending half the time watching whatever you do. Which does not sound expecially interesting once you imagine yourself as say, Garrus standing about 30 minutes until first player is done with talking to everybody else on ship and decides to finally go on another mission to take you with him.
However, if the idea of coop is implemented in any reasonable way (even if only coop-only levels unlocked after singleplayer) I'd be the first one to play it until dawn. Multiple times
Note, I did not read all the 7 pages of this thread so if any ideas were posted that would solve the problem outlined above, would you kindly direct me to it? Thanks!

Go read up on the Galaxy at War feature, it seems you know nothing about it. The multiplayer co-op is a different feature than the singleplayer campaign.
In co-op, you don't play as Commander Shepard. You pick a race and a class and fight against waves of enemies similar to the Horde mode in Gears 3. These battles and characters will have an impact in your single player campaign as 'Assets'. I'm not sure exactly how much they affect your game, however.
Anyway, I support split screen. Even if I don't use it much myself, I know this will benefit many people, and would hopefully be well worth the resource investment.

If there is a game mode as multiplayer co-op in which you do not play as Commander Shepard, do not have your squadmates for who's respect you left hundreds of hours of gametime, do not fly Normandy, a ship on which practically EVERYTHING was decided, do not have your friends you had along all those years, then is this really a Mass Effect game at all?
I would rather not be playing some random Batarian thug in a minor gang shootout which is *this* important, next to what Shepard is doing that moment (Spoilers not allowed IIRC, but there's quite a list here to be made) because it feels rather pointless. It's the reason I do not play multiplayer much.
Then again, I would probably fire it up after finishing ME3 singleplayer for like 15 times, just to see everything there is.

Please read the MP features. The co-op is a SpecOps group going around and securing locations for Shepard, and thus adding to how ready the galaxy is to combat the Reapers.Eudaimonium wrote...

However, making this is essentially making a whole new game, which means it'll take a LOT of production time. All the levels and actions...
But it would be worth it, for sure.
If it would affect the release date of the game, there's always a possibility of having it out as a new game or expansion pack.
I'm not against the idea or anything, I'm just trying to be real. Multiplayer and Mass Effect sound as incredible to me as to anybody else, and I'll look forward to anything made as such, as long as it's good.
