Split screen co-op imo should be standard in all console games, yes its better to have the whole screen to yourself, but your friends are sitting right next to you

I admit, split-screen would be pretty amazing. It's something not many games seem to do any more, which is a shame.

Modern Warfare 3 has split-screen co-op. so if Mass effect 3 doesn't this might make me see the haters are actually right about bioware.

This. If Bioware is so eager to get fans from the MW3 crowd, splitscreen is a must. 

The ME3 multiplayer is basically Survival mode from MW3. and that is only fun with a person next to you freaking out about how insane those Juggernauts are.

MW3 also used a super narrow field of view and pretty bad textures so that the now old 360's could handle rendering co-op, which would pose a problem as restricting fov in third person games is harder since it would lead to weird distortions, although GOW3 did it so it should be doable but who knows what sort of technical wizardry Epic had to use to make it work. As a pc gamer I cound't care less but I support chioces for console gamers to have the best experience possible (so long as you stop ruining my texture quality).

Given the engine and the game type... there's no good reason why they shouldn't have Split-Screen Co-op.

If they just don't know how to do it... I thought they had a good relationship with Epic Games... a company that incorporated Split-Screen co-op in every Gears game since the franchise began. If they can talk to DICE about getting better sound... talking to Epic about Split-Screen should be a no-brainer.
