Yeah I noticed that too.

Now now, be fair Thomson. There are some games/franchises that have in the past suffered distinct drops in SP quality following the introduction of MP. Go google "MP ruined SP" and get a billion trillion results."
I don't think you can say the concerns of the anti-MP crowd are completely without basis. The game isn't out yet, which means you're really not in much of a position to say whether people have "good reason to be offended" by this news. (emphasis added)

A old saying from Man in Black makes sense a person is smart, people are dumb.
That sums up why a large number of people get into panic over anything that has mp in it and is how humanity works.
And thanks for the post OP

And BioWare hasn't learned from other people's mistakes? That's the assumption being made.
Let's get to the real meat of the thing:I don't think you can say the concerns of the anti-MP crowd are completely without basis. The game isn't out yet, which means you're really not in much of a position to say whether people have "good reason to be offended" by this news. (emphasis added)
And why does this argument not cut both ways?
We have statement after statemet after statement that BioWare has been careful not to preserve the SP experience. If people don't believe them, that's their right, but after the backlash that followed the streamlining of the RPG elements, I think BioWare would be crazy to take risks with SP.
And you have to admit, onelifecrisis, that there is a vocal segment of this forum anxious to complain about anything.

"A person is smart. People are dumb panicky animals and you know it."
Even though that movie was just a comedy, that line is one of my favorite (and imo truest) quotes from a movie ever.

It does cut both ways. I'm only objecting to you insulting people who are concerned. Personally I'm not going to judge the SP until the game is out. I'm slight concerned by the MP announcement but I'll reserve judgement.

It's not really that veiled. I call these "vent threads", for obvious reasons.
It'll probably get closed later today since most of the posts revolve around putting people down.

Fair enough, onelifecrisis, but I'm also tired of being called a fanboy (not by you, and thanks for that) when I suggest that maybe people are over-reacting.
You don't have to do many of the side missions in ME1. They're optional. You don't even have to do "Lair of the Shadwo Broker" or "Overlord" in ME2. You don't even have to do Legion's loyalty mission in ME2, turning him over to Cerberus. That (I presume) means the Geth will be enemies of Shep in ME3.
BioWare's record is that you can, indeed, ignore large parts of this game. So when they say "MP is optional," I'm very inclined to believe them.
To be perfectly blunt, a significant portion of the content in ME2 is optional. You can skip four of seven squadmates altogether, you don't have to do a single loyalty mission, and you don't even have to use any of the upgrades you're given. Then again, this has been a trend with BioWare games recently. Perhaps since the beginning, even.Thompson family wrote...

You know, I you have to advertise a feature by having to say "you don't have to use it", because you know most your fans don't want it, maybe there's something wrong with including the feature in your game...

Indeed.
Now while some people may like the idea of co-op missions, I sincerely doubt it will win over enough fans for it to be worth including. I know that I have practically zero interest in it, because I don't play Mass Effect for that kind of thing, I play it for the story and characters, I don't really need to be a generic avatar shooting mercs with some friends in this series, it's not why I have followed it.
The same goes for a lot of the fans, this seems to suggest that the inclusion of it is to draw in new players, but let's be honest, is that really going to happen? I don't see it happening.
Although the idea of cancelling a pre-order over it is unbelievably childish, I don't like it being in the game, but my Collectors Edition pre-order isn't going anywhere.
