She let her hair down and put some make-up on.....girls can do that. I still have trouble recognizing women I know sometimes. Go live on a military base for a while and see the difference in how female soldiers/marines look when they are in uniform and out of uniform.
.

This is so true, and I've personally had this happen to me.  This guy was used to seeing me at work with no makeup, hair pulled back, and work clothes.  I ran into him at a party (we'd been working together for months), and I had to speak before he recognized me.

I think she looks nice.:P

...Why.... WHY another thread of this.
C'mon.
*Adjusts glasses*
3 Words ( trust me they will be very helpful)
Get. Over. It.
BioWare knows what they are doing.
They changed Ashley because they are changing everyone else. And ME3 takes place into a estimated time too 6-12 months from Horizon.
People , Ashley, are going to change, they aren't going too look the same, facial structure, sure, hair, armor, yeah thats gonna change. She can't wear phoenix armor forever and have her hair in that bun forever.

Ash was never ugly.

Don't bother.  They'll happily bathe in shallow waters forever.

I think she looked better, and much more distinctive and practical, with her hair up. As I said in the Jack thread, I feel a change of apperance for her is because of character growth, this change for Ash seems to be because the devs want to make her sexier which is not a particularly good reason. If it is while she is off duty, then I'm all for it, but once she slips into armour the bun needs to come back.

It's pretty obvious to me. Ashley makes a lot more money now as a SPECTRE than she did as an Alliance soldier and can afford luxuries like getting her hair professionally done, better clothes and armor, and perhaps a little cosmetic surgery.

I am merely trying to raise them out of ignorance into consciousness, that is all.

seriously, try to understand why bioware won't change, you condemn yourself to bitterness, it's silly. Try to see things differently. :

- You are not alone
. They won't burn this outfit and abandon those who love it. They won't change the hairstyle of Ashley, because they know that many liked the new look. Think again about it, you are not alone and bioware knows it.

- They will give you an option to change this iconic outfit
, which cleans your silly complaints about it. Why do you complain, if you can change ?

- They want to show that Ashley has matured, visually,
whether you agree or not. That's their analysis and I think they are right. Ashley the same, in M1, M2, M3, I do think it's a it silly to keep exactly the same, and I don't want at all that myself.

- The best thing to do, instead of staying on the impossible, is to ask other things.
So, yes the bun , please bioware. An armor worthy, please bioware. It's rather more effective than, Oh bioware, boobs, hahaha, trolololol,  etc etc.

I didn't think a longer hairstyle could be such a radical difference of character to people. Shallow much?

Who's to say that she didn't do anything more (hair-wise) than simply unbraid it?  If she were short-haired in ME1, then there'd be a point...

Good point.

It's also a little unfair that Ash can't update her look when come March a lot of Shepards will be going back under the knife for their second major facial reconstruction.

Damn, I gotta give credit here. Based on what I can see, the pictures on the left are perfect and actually do the character justice. Well played, Bioware.

You're kidding, right? Have you even played ME1? She made fun of scampy outfits and light armor. What does that armor have? A freakin' boob window...

Bioware dissapoints again...I'm sick of all the over-sexualization...

Changing my character's face is the ONLY retcon that I find acceptable. jessielou, bioware's butchering of Ashley's character for the piggy masses is NOT acceptable.

First, I was joking. Second, I don't think she looks different enough to even call it a retcon. I've only really seen pictures so far, and maybe I'll change my mind when I see her in the game but as of right now it just looks to me like she cleaned herself up a bit.

Character re-design. Happens with every sequel. She looks great imo, but I would like her hair pulled back as that seemed consistent with her personality of a hard-edged, practical soldier.

As if we need another iconic look for Ashley.  She had one already:

Guess who that is to Shepard's left.  I'm sorry, we met Liara on Eden Prime wearing that outfit.<_<

The two on the left are fine. After seeing that I am more confident she will be OK in the game. The various posing does not look Ashley like though.

It's a retcon because of her stance on light armor/skampy outifts, which she verbally stated in ME1, but obviously that game never existed to the majority of the "fans" here and bioware nowadays... Image IPB

So far, we've only seen her appearance, not her character (excluding the leaked script, which I have not read, and will not read). Character and appearance are not necessarily one and the same; just look at Miranda and Samara. Then read about how their characters were written.

Note that I'm not trying to defend Bioware in this regard. I'm merely pointing out that, at least in Miranda's and Samara's cases, their visual design people and their writing team weren't communicating as well as they should have been. This may also be true with Ashley; we'll have to wait and see. Well, those of us who didn't read the story leaks will wait and see.

Isn't that just one look though? I saw a picture of her in heavier armor with her hair pulled back.

So why hasn't Shepard been radically re-designed (barring minor aesthetic changes to the N7 armor)? Why hasn't Joker shaved his beard?

Who in whatever games you're referring to in that butchered portmanteau wear "skampy" outfits?
And for all we know (very little), she may have just come to appreciate mobility more.
