Yep, changing characters visually to please those who couldn't care less about the character or how well written he was because he wasn't superficially sexy enough is the logical and right thing to do. No reason caring about the actual fans, who just want the well written character back, with an understandable development and not-ridiculous clothes.

Thing is, if I had enough faith in the writers I wouldn't be as concerned. But I don't, actually, and even if had I would not completely convinced that the writing actually matches what the visual department designs.

And that's where you are wrong. You aren't the only one who is Ashley's fan or is interested in general by writting. We are all adults, we do know what we like in Bioware's games. I am an Ashley' fan and I care very much for characters's integrity in general and especially about her. Among them many like her new look, not because she's a sexy doll ( What she'isn't for me and others , ) and actually many of them don't complain about that and don't understand at all those reactions.

Actually I noticed that the louder people were those who actually hated already Ashley. A chance to bash again this b*tch ? Cool. The first ones to talk about this again, and again, and again as well. There are some people like you really bothered as well.

But, what counts is her personality, the writting, that's there the most important.
I don't care her iconic look wanted by Bioware, If I can put on her an armor. . And I doubt there are all perverts who do not care the character, given how elitist this forum is.

She's great with her hair down, she's a spectre. Let us agree to disagree, because I do think it is a good decision. But that doesn't mean I don't care the writting. On the contrary. I believe in maturity. Nothing remains static.

Do you want the bun ? Ask Bioware kindly for a bun option. I hope there will be, to satisfy everyone.

You know, I see people complaining elsewhere that Bioware is pandering to the fans of ME1 over ME2, and how the ME2 squad has been mistreated, and then I go to this thread and read this. Apparently Bioware is simultaneously pandering to both groups while screwing over the other. Quite a feat, that.

It's perfectly managable screw over both groups, by neglecting the ME2 characters and ruining the ME1 characters while giving them more attention. Image IPB

I suppose. As someone who's perfectly happy with how the squad is being handled, though, it all seems a bit silly and overreactive.

First, I was joking. Second, I don't think she looks different enough to even call it a retcon. I've only really seen pictures so far, and maybe I'll change my mind when I see her in the game but as of right now it just looks to me like she cleaned herself up a bit.

It's a retcon because of her stance on light armor/skampy outifts, which she verbally stated in ME1, but obviously that game never existed to the majority of the "fans" here and bioware nowadays... Image IPB

hooray mass of wafare 3: call of N7...

Who in whatever games you're referring to in that butchered portmanteau wear "skampy" outfits?
And for all we know (very little), she may have just come to appreciate mobility more.

Yep. Boob windows are GREAT for combat mobility! Especially when there are searing-hot "ammo" clips flying around! Great observation!

Certainly they don't seem to be much of a hindrance, judging by ME2. I suspect it has something to do with the shields. Either that, or it's not her full combat armor, because I know a couple of different ones have been mentioned.

Ugh...ME2 was just...stupid in squadmate combat apparel...wow. Boobies over practicality and lore consistency...yaay bringing in the masses...

That right there in the magazine shot is her "armor." That one where she is wearing a suit similar to Kaidan's is a photoshop.

@Cerberus You haven't played ME1, have you?

I have played ME 1almost 7 times now . I know you go on what she said in ME 1 . I have no problem with her look in 3 nor did I have a problem with Miranda's look in 2 . I love good looking women as well ones that have a get the job done type attitude . I also have no issue witha woman dressing sexy . My f**king god we are talking about a game that takes place in the 21 Century and some want to force a form of non sexual dress code on these female characters . this is going above and beyond fan feedback now this is starting to sound like some want to dictate their views and ideas on Bioware so the game can be made to their desires and its wrong . You have a choice either you do not like what Bioware did or you can not buy the game .

Yeah! I mean, it's a new game, right? Character development right? Shepard has matured! He's decided that having his schlom bouncing around while he's being hit from all sides with searing-hot pieces of GOW-style ammo clips and bullets is a perfect mobility enhancement!

And thus the SiS subdivision was born (Spectres in shorts).

Okay, I'm not going to change my stance on the retcon issue. However I will admit that in terms of safety on the battlefield, those types of outfits don't appear to be the most logical choice. BUT for whatever reason that doesn't really seem to be an issue in MEville, so if Ash wants to feel like girl for a while it's fine with me.

The thing is, Ashley (in the eyes of many), is getting more of a heftier change than anyone else.  I'm not real crazy about Kaidan's new 'do, but he's still relatively untouched.  And his redesign is more positive than negative.  Liara got a whole repurposing and her iconic look is her armored LOTSB style.  The biotic is featured in armor and the soldier isn't?  Weird how that happened.

Jack's getting a shirt and some of growth of hair.  Doesn't bother me how they do it.  She goes from uncovered to covered.  My only issue with her was armor.  Garrus isn't changing.  Wrex is going to be the same.  Tali is also untouched.  I don't care about Miranda or Samara as they end up spending enough time on the ship to learn another language, fluently.  But Ashley gets a redesign that goes contrary to a statement made by her regarding Asari commandos.

The style they're foisting on her in ME3 comes from a statement made by her in which she would be out on a date and with that implies she'd also dress that way if she goes dancing (which she also refers to if you talk to her in Flux).  Why this would be a regular thing for her to wear in combat is beyond me.  It isn't a mark of maturity in any way, shape, or form.  This is regression.  We still have yet to see the promised image of Ashley in armor and it's been well over two months since CHud tantalized us with promise that we'd see it.  Even the image posted is derived from a Con by someone who attended.  Bioware never released it to the wider public.

Now I'm hearing that there's something in the leaked files about Ashley's character?  I'm hating L'Etoile for leaving because he should have finished it.  I really don't care if people think I'm worshipping him (I'm not), but if you're an Ashley fan, you give credit where credit is due.  As far as I'm concerned.

You know, you only solidify my point. The masses are like "BOOBIES! *drool*" and then bioware is like "Okay, screw the fans! THE MASSES WANT SEX! BOOBIES IT IS!"

Yes. The art team loves this character more than any of you do, trust me.

No, I think they love profit more than the character. Keep telling yourself that though, if it helps you sleep at night.

For the record, that image is also concept art that can be found in the CE artbook. So it is unclear if that concept art is representative of the armor (that we have yet to see)

Then again, the little pinup poses are very telling.... It's almost like the art team forgot to play ME1.

The publisher loves profit. The art team does what they are told, and like any creative entity, they make a compromise between what they are told and what they want to do. That they have made Ashley look this good is no small accomplishment, given they may have been told to make her appeal exclusively  to 14 yr old males.

Garrus, Wrex, and Kaidan don't have boobies. Tali is out because of her suit.

Ashley, on the other hand...well...not so much.

I understand but I also see a growing group that want to remove all forms of sexy outfits / armor from ME 3 because they feel it does not fit ME  . That is my issue now as I understand it there will be armor choices in ME 3 for squad mates so you have a choice of what she wears.

It was never about removing sexy outfits from the game. You're an idiot. There, I said it. I feel better.

Go replay ME1, and pay attention to the characters and the lore. Running half-naked does NOT fit the ME universe.
