So, why does Ashley look radically different?

For the record, that image is also concept art that can be found in the CE artbook. So it is unclear if that concept art is representative of the armor (that we have yet to see)

Then again, the little pinup poses are very telling.... It's almost like the art team forgot to play ME1.

1. Understood.
2. [sarcasm]Who needs to play ME when the Wiki's right there?[/sarcasm] ;)

The fact that the lead writer admitted to relying on a fan-made wiki to fact-check himself disturbs me more than anything else.

Please, tell me you're joking. Tell me you are joking.

....I'm not buying this game. Screw you Bioware.

My fifteen year old brother romanced Ashley because she quoted Tennyson, just saying.

Indeed. He must be representative of most 15 yr olds.

As a newbie to this discussion, where can I find the pics that people seem to be going crazy about?

Man, I wish I was joking. See page 2 of this interview. However, he did say they have an "IP Bible", so that's good news.

They way I read it was more that if they need to check facts real quickly than they use MEWiki because its convenient and easy to access. I don't think we should call doom over little things like that.

Nah man, I'm sure they care a lot about their fans. After all, we know more about their own lore than they do! :wizard:

No! We must call doom and cancel our preorders over every insignificant detail! To do otherwise would be silly!

Can't they have their Story Bible in a digital format where they can "FIND" what they're looking for rather than load up a browser to search there?  Or if they go lo-tech, they can index it with those colorful tabs?

This pretty much sums up what I was saying. Cthulu, try thinking about it a little longer.

That fact they are relying on a wiki made by fans speaks volumes about the quality of Bioware and the game they're making. They have to check a fan made website for something they should know like the back of their hand. Something they made.

I also think you guys are making too big an assumption about what they are looking up. I doubt they are pulling up main characters and major plot points, but maybe instead in the writing process they realize they want to introduce "artifact x" or "character y" and don't know all the details for said character off the top of their head. Why not check online just in case?

Because they should already know this stuff. Holy crap....

Um...they should know all the details about every minor cameo appearance character off the top of their heads? That's a bit ridiculous.

When was it ever quoted that they were looking up info on Ashley on the wiki?

You guys seriously need to calm down and stop taking things out of context.

I'm making a point. Stop trying to defend bioware here. They wrote the story, they should know it. They shouldn't be going to third-party sources to check back on what they wrote. They should have ALL of that on-file.

Yes, but your point is ridiculous. Flipping out because one writer says that he checks the MEWiki for information is not the sign of a level headed fan.

If Mac actually came out and said, "I have trouble keeping track of all the Mass Effect characters, plotlines, and planets, so I use MEWiki to clear things up for me. This certainly helped me when creating the new design for Ashley." Then that would be cause for worry.

I really should just let this go since it's starting to feel like trying to talk my apt into cleaning itself, but...

This is not an overly revealing outfit.  No, it's not heavy armor but it's also not a catsuit.  I don't think it's anywhere near as skimpy as Miranda's outfit.  I don't think it's even as revealing as light armor in ME1, those things looked like spandex to me.  Maybe she could stand to pull that zipper up a bit, but maybe it's a little warm on the Normandy.

He's the LEAD writer.  True, he gets everything from Hudson first, but keep in mind that he's the first in the chain after that.  It goes down the chain from him.  What is it with you trying to diminish responsibility here?

I personally don't mind the outfit as long as she wears it as casual. I would rather not see Ashley going into battle wearing it, but it doesn't look we'll get that. Hell, hasn't it even been lauded that Ashley is a soldier class character? Would be pretty weird to have her walking around in her thigh highs like that in battle.

If I'm wrong I'll eat my words, but as for the moment I'm cautiously optimistic.

This looks pretty skimpy to me. "Tinfoil skirt and thigh-high boots." Straight from Ashley.

I actually think it's worse.  Light armor came with a helmet at least.  I don't see how a helmet would go with that.  Add to that, and you did this unknowingly but I'm glad you did, what Ashley's wearing looks no better than what that female officer is wearing and that's supposed to be her combat outfit according to the recolor.

Im simply saying claiming doom and gloom over a vague comment such as that is a rediculous way to think about the series. Sure, I would be disappointed and upset if Walters couldn't keep the Mass Effect races straight or the different characters backstories, but if he has trouble with the lore for a specific device, planet, or event in galactic history than why not use something like the MEWiki. He's the Lead Writer, but that doesn't mean that he should have every tiny bit of Mass Effect information ingrained into his brain. He's human.
