So, why does Ashley look radically different?

I think it's kind of normal for her to have a different now that she is an officer and a Spectre

Please explain why it is normal for her to have a different face now that she's those two things? Are you suggesting that with her lieutenant's bars she got instant cosmetic surgery?

@DoomBlackDragon - Maybe you knew a different Ash, but I don't remember her kissing my boots any in ME or ME2 much less seeing her doing so with anyone else. She did have a tough work ethic to prove herself just as good as everyone else, but that's ass-kissing? I think we have different definitions there.

I think it's kind of odd that she seemed to be redesigned for sex appeal, since plenty of people liked/romanced her in the first game when she just looked like a normal soldier.

I get that maybe as a Spectre she wouldn't look like a regular joe soldier, but she also made comments about not wanting to be super girly and all.

But, maybe the designers saw her look as something that they could change or make "better." I guess there are plenty of dudes who like her new look a lot better, so maybe that was their goal.

Ofcourse I romanced Ashley, (besides her char) because she looked, normal and nice, and not like Miranda for example.

One thing that bothers me too, is that Kaidan, as a Biotic had as a Biotic only light or medium armor (I think) and ashley, as a soldier the heavy armor... now, in ME3 it seems like somebody thought ash is the biotic and kaidan the soldier... I saw kaidan more often in Armor then Ashley... wait! ... I saw Kaidan only in Armor, and Ashley in none...

Besides that, her face looks like she got Botox (Lips) and she has to muche makeup for a soldier who wants to face the reapers.
I hope they change her a littel bit back to normal, if not, and they "improved" her character in the same way, my reverant has to fill the gap. ;-)

Why Ashley looks so radically different? I know, BW thinks to get to an even bigger audience and to boost sales of ME3 they need a pale skinned sexy brunette squadmate. And hey, there is Ash! Lets tune and tweak her a bit, , lets do a face job on her to make her look less unique and more like one of those perfect looking models from fashion magazines - she absolutely has to meet the current beauty standards!

Tadam! And so Ashley 2.0 was born.

I wonder if Ash has a different writer in ME2 and ME3 and they didn't do their research on her from ME1, which might explain all the weird changes (personality wise and appearance)?

^ The "face job" as you put it... is what I hate the most about the new look.

Wouldn't call it hate, but at least it is an issue to me. I can live with plucked brows - women tend to do such things - but a cosmetic surgery for Ashley's nose? Seriously, her "old" nose was more than perfect. No need to change that.
Her skin could be a tad darker, maybe it's just the light.

However, I hope and believe her current face is not fully done yet and still gets some tweaking. Maybe BW will do it after reading the comments - or they did it already because of comments on leaked beta.

I don't, I like my down to earth ashley thank you very much.

Well look at it this way. ME Ash was Cinderella in the first act. She was downtrodden and bottom of the heap. By ME3 she is a spectre and not too many people have that level of power. She is one of the most powerful women in the whole ME universe. She is not going to be the same.

It is rags to riches all over again which I have to admit is trite but generally true. Circumstance often dictates choices to us that might not be inherent to our character. Lifting those onerous circumstances such as lack of money allows the person a freer hand to decide things like what they wear or even to get cosmetic surgery.

You're seriously using that as your argument? Cinderella? Seriously?

She wasn't a "rag-to-riches" story in the least. If anything, her character would prove that the authority she would earn from becoming wouldn't get to her head. If it did, it wouldn't make her wear outfits that allude to mini-skirts and thigh-high stocking boots.

She was sent to the worst posting and denied promotions because of the actions of her grandfather. Shepard rescued her from a life of obscurity. He is Prince Charming to keep the analogy.

Her new position gives her more self-esteem and freedom to display her individuality. If anyone that is dirt poor is given money are they still going to wear rags and go with a flowbee haircut (not to generalize just as a point)? Now way they are going to get fine clothes and maybe wear what is fashionable instead of follow personal tastes but still major upgrade in appearance.

Ashley conduct business on the citadel in the eyes of millions not some backwater colony with three alliance marines as company and dirt farmers to interact with. She is going to follow code while on duty and off has no one to impress. She is someone now of importance. Get the picture?

I see none of that in her suit. Dead wrong about mini-skirt. It appears to be armor plating and not boots per se but I am more inclined to agree on that. What is wrong with boots and why are thigh high boots considered sexier? I don't think so purely because they cover everything worth seeing. Image IPB

Just out of curiosity, do you take notes when you play, or is this all straight from memory? If it's the second one, I'm pretty impressed. Image IPB

One of my fav quotes of Ashley. I like it when she's flirting with Shepard and THAT line has a huge "flirt with me" hint included.

She does have a different writer. Her old writer left quite some time ago. It's part of the reason her changes alarm me.

Her original writer (also the writer of Thane, EDI and Legion) has left.

Personality wise? Where exactly have you seen this change?

Ashley criticized the asari commando get up in ME1 and spoke of a preference for 'thicker armour'. Now she's wearing something lighter and more impractical. This indicates a change in personality.

I'd agree if she was wearing those clothes in combat.

That's her casual outfit.  She has actual armor, as shown via concept art.  In the beginning, everyone is in casual wear and aren't all armored up because they're not expecting conflict.

Exactly, that's not the outfit she wears into combat!

That's the outfit she addresses admirals, the Council, and other important officials in!

Yeah, that's much better
