So, why does Ashley look radically different?

I just watched the beta. Her face looks extremely similar. The only small difference would be her hair is down and she is now more attractive.

Implying Ashley doesn't care about her appearance (especially toward Shepard if she's romancing him) is preposterous. Just because she's a soldier doesn't mean she isn't a woman. Frankly, I'm surprised it took her this long to realize most women look better with their hair down than in a bun!

Practicality that's why.

It's not the hair.

It's the outfit.

her face IS different though. Her eyes. Look at her eyes. It's like you could see more of her eye lid. Her lips look curvier and slightly more plump. I don't really care but when I first saw her..she didn't seem like Ash to me.

In fact, (my brother is rather oblivious but still a point has to be made) my brother saw some of the beta and said "Is that miranda? Huh." -- "no...that's ash.." "wait...what? Totally thought it was miranda."

I'll admit that if people have a  hard time telling Ash and Miranda apart, Bioware's doing it wrong.

But I'm willing to believe that Ash's face is as yet "unfinished" and further refinements will make her look more like the Ash we know and love.  At least, I hope so.   Maybe we'll see a later build with the demo

And I thought I was the only one.

Seriously, she looks weird. She looked a whole lot better with a bun and without the weirdass eyelids.

Ultimately, if they don't change it - fine. Ash isn't my canon playthrough anyway. lol

Looking at a comparison video on youtube, to see what the characters are like since I wasn't around for ME1 and see no point in finishing ME2 since ME3 apparantly is getting a comic for choices, and I noticed that in ME1 and ME2 that Ashley looks like a strong independent military woman but in ME3 she looks like she got implants and botox injected in her face with excess make-up. Also.... Is she really wearing a Tight Suit and heels? Why did she drop the Heavy Armor look? I thought she was supposed to be a Soldier class. You know, like default Sheperd who has pretty bulky armor.

Is there a Lore or Game reason why she looks so drastically different in ME3 while all the other returning characters generally look the same as they always have?

Because they want to keep the increased level of sex appeal Miranda brought now that she's gone. And if they did it to Tali or Liara then Fox News and the like would have a fit (again XD).

I agree, it is silly. I also find Ashley advertising her religion then having sex out of wedlock offensive.

Oh, well what can you do?

In the past he chin was more pronounced, and her nose looks different. I didn't mind the hair in a bun, don't mind the hair down in casual situations either. when it comes to fights/missions we'll all armor up and put on our helmets/pin hair back.

Really?  And what religion was that specifically? Because she never said.  In fact, it's far from clear that she'd even identify with any organized religion, much less one with prohibitions against pre-marital sex.  IOW, that's your issue, not hers.

Pretty much. People are comparing two still images that show her face from a different angle and with a different facial expression. Calm down, people! *rolls eyes*

I wish they'd show a pic of her in her actual armour already.

I'd agree if she was wearing those clothes in combat.

Judging from the CE thing she will be able to wear this outfit in combat.

What I notice is that she seems to have shade put on, and her hair is abnormally shiny, as in styled shiny.

That, and her armor just like all females versus males is more skintight leather/fabric with less plating, while the males have more covering plate and bulk to their armor.

Who knows, maybe they will have similar skintight light fabric armor on males and plate heavy sets for females. We'll have to wait and see.

As long as she can in turn wear armor on the Normandy instead of that outfit, I'm all right with that.

You'd be surprised how drastically a person's face can change with a different hair style. Certain hair style's subconsciously place visual emphasis on a person's face in a way that is simply uncontrollable. She has the same face (maybe higher modeled, but its exactly the same), but her hairstyle makes it look different.

Doesn't really matter though, because she'll be wearing armor and a helmet most of the time for most people.

I hope so. I'll just assume it's that. It's not even that I don't like it. I do. She's pretty. But she seems different.

Exactly, that's not the outfit she wears into combat!

That's the outfit she addresses admirals, the Council, and other important officials in!

Yeah, that's much better

Does anyone else think that if there never were any negative response over Miranda's outfit. We would never have gotten armor for Ashley?

Who cares at this point. We got Ash in a outfit that speaks to her character more than the other outfit did.

Well I don't think of romancing her in this look. I think of... I don't know, asking her whats with that gettup. She is the only one who is wearing anything so... "That" in all the alliance officers and spectres we have seen. Her knew "look" is so far only matched by miranda and samara, and they are only beaten by jack.

Even with the ridiculousness samara, jack and miranda seem to have reasons and character development for/with their looks (samara less so but admiral cheeze made a compelling argument) but ashley?

Even if they made a reason for their new looks... any reason that has her wearing that thng during an intergalactic war of apocolyptic scale just doesn't seem right to me. I'm ecstatic about the news she will still have armor but I don't know if any explanation will fit her character. I guess I will have to wait and see... Its just the description for her new look and the general direction bioware is taking in general just worries me frankly.

A few years ago something like this would be unheard of about bioware, now... its still shocking but somewhat expected. Its sad for me.
