Yes. But Ashley in ME1 would never be wearing something that tight just so we can see her crack. God. Ash in ME1 was classy, fiery and tough. That's why I liked her. This character shouldn't be wearing this...

I think her "butt crack" looks that ... "prominent" ... because of those white pants. Replace them with dark blueish pants and the crack is gone (or less visible). Also we don't know what Ash loves to wear when not in duty (we saw her only in duty dress on the Normandy). However, I concur: Ash won't ever show her butt like that. It doesn't fit to her.

That's why I'm going to give her an outfit with dark pants.

It's true we don't know what Ash likes to wear when off duty. That's why I was... okay-ish with the outfit... Until I saw the back just now. And I'm not happy at all. Come on! Ash is a soldier thru and thru she should be dressed like one! She shouldn't be in a rubber suit and heels. Not during ME3 anyway. I don't want a space babe... This is UGHHHHH! Bring back the old ass-kicking Ash in some standard armor and uniform, with boots and a big gun.

I KNOW RIGHT?

They need to give her sex appeal b/c she sooooo didn't have any to begin with... <_<

I don't care. All I want is for it to be possible for she and Shepard to have a discussion that becomes a heated argument that may or may not end in my Shepard strangling her.

Also, because shiny new designs attract shiny new players? And rusty old players, for that matter.

BioWare really shouldn't focus on what the haters of a character want. They should focus on what the fans of a character want. So how about you wonder off.

I think BW didn't do anything of that. They simply sexed up Ash a bit for those guys who never played ME1 or ME2. For the new guys basically.

That's, however, not entirely BW's fault - it's more an EA issue. They want to sell as many copies as possible and as long as they're believing they could get more fans by kicking old fans, they'll try it. They even know we're going to buy the game anyway, so ... yes, that's it. All about money. I'm not sure if I can blame EA about that. I blame EA because they have a crappy service (some gaming keys get deactivated after 30 days of non-usage!)

Whatever.

As long as Ashley behaves like Ashley I can live with her "DAT ASH". If I can give her dark blueish pants so I don't see her butt crack, I'm fine.

In fairness, Ash's old armour put a great big red stripe to highlight her posterior

Looking at a comparison video on youtube, to see what the characters are like since I wasn't around for ME1 and see no point in finishing ME2 since ME3 apparantly is getting a comic for choices, and I noticed that in ME1 and ME2 that Ashley looks like a strong independent military woman but in ME3 she looks like she got implants and botox injected in her face with excess make-up. Also.... Is she really wearing a Tight Suit and heels? Why did she drop the Heavy Armor look? I thought she was supposed to be a Soldier class. You know, like default Sheperd who has pretty bulky armor.

Is there a Lore or Game reason why she looks so drastically different in ME3 while all the other returning characters generally look the same as they always have?

It's all part of EA's plan to lure in more general populas of gamers to the series at the same time destroying what Mass Effect originally was about. So they have to over exemplify that Ashley Williams is a female by putting her in skin tight outfights with enhanced breast.    For Shepard they just have make sure he's equipped with all the latest FPS weaponry.

I remember the good old days when the most objectionable facet of her armor was its barbie pink coloring. I could just sit around going, "Pink marine armor? Yeah, that's not a stretch at all. Look I get it, she's a woman. You don't need to put her in pink to establish her gender."

yess. yesss. WE need more options like this.

Perhaps a Tali one involving the airlocke, maybe?

Yeah I never liked the pink Phoenix armor either -- aesthetically and logically it didn't make much sense to me. I usually just consoled in Onyx armor for everyone.

Haters gtfo

And yes, given recent developments, the old barbie pink is most forgivable.

The fellow Talimancer in me respectfully disagrees with this plan.

Uhh, technically this isn't an "Ashley thread".

And I like Tali too much to kick her off my ship.

So I'm wondering if the ponytailed look on the left is going to be her in-combat look while the right is her casual on the ship look.

That'd work nicely.

Sex appeal!

For Ashley's appearance in the series, we let her hair down and gave her sex appeal, while keeping her in a uniform that introduced the new Alliance colors.

gave her sex appeal

I agree that the picture of Ash's rear end is less than reassuring. But at least those of us who play Mass Effect on the PC can mod it. I'll be making a more uniform-like texmod of Ash's outfit as soon as I can and will share' it with the forum. I'm sure others will make their versions too.

Sorry for XBox folks. :-(

Dunno if I'm going to mod Ashleys appearance. After all, there are some outfits to pick from included in the game (at least for CE afaik), so I'll pick an outfit without "white panties".

That's it.

And yes: PC player here. I'll have five playthroughs ready for ME3. All five m!Shepards and all five romanced Ashley.

The topic is Ashley's appearance.  How is it not an "Ashley thread"?

PCplaeyer here.

And if that outfit is her default appearance, you can be certain I will use a mod to change it.

I'm not ready to dig into recent tweets, but it was stated that "Ashley to the left" are outdated versions of "jacket outfit".

Edit:
Here we go:

Those are all clothing concepts. Ashley has full armor and helmet
similar to Shepard's, which I don't think have been shown yet.

Damn. Cause she looks great there.

Well, we're 3 months away.

I just hope she gets a bulky looking armor at some point. Like Heavy Armor in ME1.

Yay - I've always been all for a prettier, more feminine side for Ash, but was afraid that with the current sneak peeks, BW might've gone too far. Prettier or not, Ash just isn't Ash without the old tough side of her from ME1.

I think we're all just very apprehensive about what direction she's been taken in after what we saw in ME2 and since her original writer has long since left Bioware.

I hope she hasn't changed from what made me like her so much back then.

The funny thing about the so-called "pink" stripe is that it's supposed to be red.  It's washed out in-game.  Look at the box for Mass Effect and you'll see that it's red.  Check out the video of Ashley, Shepard, and Garrus ignoring the call from Noveria and you'll see the stripe is red.  I believe that video came out before the game was released.  It's something in the engine that made it that way and not Bioware changing the color themselves.

Ashely doesn't need a "prettier" side, she's beautiful as she is.  More feminine?  We got the idea that she has that feminine side when she mentions the tin foil mini-skirt and thigh high boots.  She also talks about going out dancing with her sisters if you talk to her at Flux.

This so-called "sex appeal" is of the high school "would-you-hit-that" mentality and unfortunately many have responded in exactly that manner.  It's demeaning.

Everything about Ashley screams real person.  I'm not saying that she is a real person, but I mean that I can absolutely guarantee that there are a few people exactly like her somewhere.  Ashley is down-to-earth in more ways than one.  That's why I like her.

That would explain why her armor highlights look more reddish in ME2
