Cheer up mate.

Personally I find what they've done pretty low-brow. But I don't really expect anything to change no matter how well reasoned anyone's counter arguements are. Doesn't matter if you're right or wrong. Point is sex sells and Bioware sure as heck knows it does.

I agree with this completely .

I just wish they would have revamped Ashley as more of a tough chick, a Jack light if you will; Tough girls (In uniform) are sexy . To me it makes more sense , but we might disagree with that.

Point is that , if they felt like a revamp was necessary , it shouldn't have been limited to T&A. That said, the character development might very well compensate for that.

Can't believe I forgot Far Cry 3, that game looks stellar so far.

The E3 demo was incredible. My favourite along with Tomb Raider demo from Microsoft conference. Really caught me off-guard how great FC3 seems to be and I'm not big on shooters.

I haven't been particularly excited about the Halo series since before 2007 but I'm sure it won't disappoint.

Who's developing it? Still Bungie?

Ah kaiden and vega get to stand tall like the soldiers they are, while ashley swings her hips for to the side in a symbol of the woman she is.

Le sigh.

Yeah, because being a soldier automatically erases a woman's femininity eh? Image IPB

Women, even soldiers, often stand and walk differently than men do due to anatomical differences (as well as cultural gender expectations), so I don't see what the big deal is with Ashley's poses being obviously feminine.

343 Studios. They have people that were a part of Bungie but some split off to make their own studio.

Like you questioned, being a soldier must automatically erase a woman's femininity. As stupid as that sounds peoples' reaction to Ashley's poses mean they intentionally or unintentionally believe it.

Don't worry...

Have you seen the recent leaked concept art for Kaidan and Ashley?

In the image, we see Ashley wearing armor with her hair in a bun.

LOL... totally got ninja'd there:bandit:

My guess is that the reason we see her looking so different is that she's in a dress-uniform of sorts. The Reapers invade during Shepard's trial and she doesnt have time to change.

Rather, I believe Bioware made that decision with the thought process, "Oh, well in terms of human females, the casual gamer would NEVER choose Ashley over Miranda, because, heck, look how much hotter Miranda is!" And hence, the change.

Well that's basically what I was trying to get at.

True enough Ashley's new look isn't that outrageous (she is at least wearing some kind of a suit) but I find the whole change needless. That's what really bothers me. Also it's just kind of grating to see males running around with inch think plated armor, but all the ladies get is a light suit?

Okay Liara is a Biotic so I can let that slide.

But Ashley is suppose to be a soldier. I would expect her to wear just as much armor as any of her male counterparts. But she doesn't. And what's she wearing as her default appearence doesn't look like much of a stealth suit if we're using the excuse she's a sniper now. And so far I've only seen one cover art image showing her wearing armor, which is the only hope I have for her wearing anything I'd consider armor. I'd like to think of the Mass Effect games being more of a serious space drama rather then a cheesy and stylish Sci-Fi romp.

It just irks me that this series traded practical looking armor for stylish suits. True enough ME1 had some odd color schemes, but who cares if your armor is yellow if it keeps you alive?

Basically Bioware is saying "Sorry guys, but you won't be able to check out Miranda's butt on the Normandy in ME3. But here's a more sexy version of Ashley instead."

While I agree with you that Bioware's decision to sexify Ashley is rather distasteful, I don't think it was done with the intention of filling the gap left by Miranda.

Rather, I believe Bioware made that decision with the thought process, "Oh, well in terms of human females, the casual gamer would NEVER choose Ashley over Miranda, because, heck, look how much hotter Miranda is!" And hence, the change.

Long dark hair and lots of curves, all in a skin tight rubber suit. Yeah, the similarities are most definitely there. They are so abundant that in terms of "hot", Miranda's placement on the Normandy would be redundant. My guess is that Ashley was forced to get a space babe makeover because Miranda couldn't fulfill those wishes anymore.

If it was done to bring her up to Miranda's level (???), screw that. Ashley did not need a revamp to compare. Indeed, the Ashley I knew was not some sex bomb super agent, nor was she the "perfect woman". But she was a soldier- to the bone, in her blood. She was real.

An appearance alteration can't change that about her either. As far as I know Ashley still is the same soldier I've always known her to be. She is still real.

Ashley does have armor now.  And it looks pretty good.  Though we'll need clearer pictures to be sure.

The "stylish suit" is still in unfortunately.  As casual outfits.  But I can live with that if I have to.  Provided we don't get Ash bending over a desk for our benefit.

I love Ashley's new catsuit, It looks suitable Sci-fi and it even got a nice little skirt to cover up her bum ..so when that Ass obsessive guy at Bioware thinks he's gonna makes some gratuitous butt angels of Ash he's really gonna work for it.

Is there a Lore or Game reason why she looks so drastically different in ME3 while all the other returning characters generally look the same as they always have?

Well for one, she's no longer a grunt in the military. Spectres can dress however they want.

Whoa. WHOA. Wait a tick. Did I miss something huge?

Ashley's a Spectre?

@jreezy: So I can't tell if you want to defend the new look because it's hot, or what. That's fine, btw, I will admit it looks good. But, it does not look like a soldier, so it does not look like Ashley, who already looked good in her own practical IDGAF way. Also remember her ME1 writer has left, and given the major writing f*ck-ups of ME2 that were pre-LotSB Liara and the VS on Horizon, I remain doubtful that her character will be given a realistic treatment respectful of who she was in ME1.

I thought the reason her hair was down was for the trial itself. That's my perspective at least, all we've seen so far of Ash, are bits from Earth. Which happens to be when the trial is occuring, so I'm pretty sure she'll have her old hairstyle as well.

I'm not really fond of the change in look after everyone looked the same for the first two games.

Dunno if this has been addressed but what about VA's, are they all the same still?

In regards to Ashley I don't consider Horizon a screw up. She never seemed the type to want to hold her toungue on an issue so she reacted like I expected her to. I've had no reason to doubt that Ashley isn't the same as before, which is why I don't believe a change in appearance means much. Judging her without any kind of meaningful evidence to back it up is pointless.
