actually, in MAss Effect one along with that "thick armor and a big gun" line ther's also her 'if you expect to get me in a tin foil mini skirt and thigh high boots, I want dinner first" She OPENLY states a stipulation for her to wear a revealing outfit, early in the game to Shepard and Alenko. Unprovoked, no mention of said outfit or anything.BentOrgy wrote...
Boobs sell.
But seriously, I'm only going to pop my head in here, then probably run away before I, like so many others, get set on fire;
We may not know the "Story," reasons behind her new look, but from where we came from in ME1, Ash definitely wasn't the type to bounce around in a cute little jacket and thigh high boots. She also didn't strike me as the type to wear "Armor padding," while still showing her cleavage.
http://img3.imagesha...6/ashleyme3.jpg
She's your typical "Woman in a man's world," tomboy character, with a love for poetry thrown in for spice, and she her self famously says that she prefers thick armor with a big gun; this is why so many of us raged when we saw her "Outfit." Because at the time (And even now.) we haven't been given any logical, story based reason to believe this isn't a character crisis.
Add to the mix, that many Bioware fans have become increasingly worried with the company's new "Direction." I.E, trying to cater to people who think coming in on the THIRD title of a TRILOGY is a GOOD thing, the shoddy and linear way they handled so many of ME2's story related material (Horizon, Cerberus, the Collectors, the list goes on.) and such.
And there you'll have found several reasons why we "Haters," are "Hating." When really, all most of us are doing is voicing concern over a story many of us have grown attached to. (I say most, because unfortunately, there are many more it seems that are brainless consumers who DO just want to pick a fight.)

you realize that's her CASUAL outfit. right? That's why I compare it to her tshirt and cargo pants because that was also her CASUAL outfit. when we see her in the demo EVERYONE is casual outfits, Anderson, Shepard, Ashley, all in Casual. Shepard goes into the conbat in a casual outfit and Vega was in armor because his appearance wasn't finalized yet so they used a placeholder. of all Alliance armor and blacked out breather helmet.Sgt Stryker wrote...

Sure, but did she state a desire to wear said outfit while fighting a war for the galaxy's survival, or at an official hearing involving the destruction of a mass relay and its star system, or while on duty on a warship? I don't think so. Ashley always had her priorities straight when it came to professional matters - in her eyes, practicality trumps shiny-ness. There is no arguing against that.

Interesting interpretation. Sure, they used some time to gaze out of the window, but they were "on duty" with their armor and stuff.
Ash was flirting with whom? Kaidan or Shepard? I dunno ... it's not 100% clear. And a bit early I think - Ash can't have feelings for Shepard right now. Or Kaidan. She was on board for how many days? A week maybe?

Yup, a warm welcome to the newest member of our little "hater" and "whiner" brigade!
Sure. But I dunno if you should start flirting with your superior (officer) you don't know that much, even when not in duty.jeweledleah wrote...
she was flirting with Shepard (she was already atracted at that point. you don't have to be in love with someone to be atracted to them. Kaidan is not in love with femshep at that point either, but he's still atracted) and pretty sure Dinner meant off duty.
Indeed.as far as this being casual outfit.
Ashley was meeting with her superiors. she was ON duty. even if that blue atrocity is not her combat gear - it is STILL her uniform.
Her standard duty uniform in ME1 was fine.oh and the cargo pants, rolled up sleves of the on ship alliance uniform don't look sexualized in any way. you can see them as sexy, the way a woman in uniform is still sexy, but they are not sexualized.
Ashely's new uniform is very clearly sexualized.

that outfit of hers is very deliberately designed for maximum in your face sex appeal. from thigh high boots, slight hill drawing attention to her hips and her cleavage with tailoring of her jacket.. hell, she even has suggestion of those seams that they put on stockings that are supposed to be all about sex appeal.
the sum of the details, the hair style that pinkish shine to her lips and extra eyeliner/mascara, thinner eyebrows. Ashley's appearance was changed to look "in your face hot" even at the cost of practicality.
[*]Honestly, I don't think it is even just a light version of armor. IMO that was going to be her armor in the game until they saw all the fan backlash about it. Why haven't we seen an armored Ash? B/c they are making it.mineralica wrote...

- it has... rails? for weapon attachment
- it has plating (on thighs, shoulders)
- on CE pic (or on "Art of ME universe" picture with Kaid and Ash), Kaidan, James and Liara are in armor (or, in case of Liara, in whatever they wear for combat). Why Ashley is in casual outfit? What's the sense in alt. version of casual outfit?
- she holds AR
- there is (was) a pic somewhere with Shepard, Liara and... James, I think. Also known as "purple headed Ashley". Everyone but Ashley is in armor, she is in "jacket outfit"
- * if James was supposed to be in casual outfit, it would be Vega in casual outfit - the same he uses before in demo. If James was supposed to wear armor (which wasn't finalized, hence placeholder), then why Ashley isn't in it?
- * I don't recall someone saying "jacket outfit" is casual outfit. I've heard it called also "sleeky officer outfit", but no indication with where can Ashley wear it.

In the same scene Shepard's T shirt holds his Mattock on his back the same way armor holds it so that's got nothing to do with outfit and probably a game mechanic. according to casey ashley's getting N7 stlye armor, with pieces, I'm guessing you can customize Kaidan and James's armor as well, but they're getting alternate armors sort of liek the DLC Cerberus and Inferno arors for Shepard. I also think it's Bioware finally giving Ashley and Kaidan some differences. You say her outfit is called a "sleek officer outfit" Well Ashley in ME1 says the Alliance is in her blood, so I think even as a spectre she's an Alliance Spectre at heart, not a council one. Kaidan might be more open to just serving the council, but I'm guessing Ashley is more comfortable getting assingments from Hacket and Anderson rather than the other councilors, or Anderson is the only one giving her assignments before stepping down to Admiral. lus her outfit is combat ready say some Reapers land while she's not on duty like oh..I don't know...like she was in the demo? her new outfit is much ebtter for handling ambushes than the T Shirt and cargo pants of ME1 IMO. plus it tells even the greenest of soldiers that she's a spectre so you follow her orders when she gives them.mineralica wrote...

Oh Grow up people. It's updated Graphics. From ME1 to Me2 femsheps looks alone just look different in the graphics engine. the ponytail, for example, looks fluffier in ME1 while in ME2 it it looks tighter and like it has a hint of hair gel in it. Everyone's looks get updated. Even Sheploo who's face is a real persons face is updated with extra scruff and things to make him look like he's war weary. Kaidan's hair looks curlier (dat hair bump!!) Liara's been updated, Garrus has, and Tali's got a new looking suit. Again it's not just ashley's that's been updated, it's EVERYONE.xxSgt_Reed_24xx wrote...

Yeah.... that's why vega was in armor.
Highly, doubt that.
And have you SEEN Shepard's casual outfit? Something fitting of a spectre/soldier and very practical looking. Something that's easy to move in and still looks presentable to people like admirals and councilors. His isn't showing off every curve... his doesn't come with fake garter belt straps.... his doesn't come with heels... etc.
Ashley's appearance was designed specifically .... as this person stated:jeweledleah wrote...

I agree with this 100%
That's the only explanation for doing it.... to make her "in your face hot" to hopefully get some more immature teenagers to pick up their game. Simple as that. There is no logical explanation for it so far. At least, in-game wise.
