Well class seems a fluent concept, and logically it would be in the ME universe, at least anywhere but the biotics field.
A soldier can get trailing after all and change their specialty over time.

Yeah but devs said she's still a soldier just focused on damage dealing. I.E. She brings the pain!  So while she could've changed a bit I don't see her suddenly becoming an infiltrator.

Pfft. My infiltrator is stealthiest of all <3

...wait whose cloak lasts longer? Shep's or Kasumi's? I forget. Edit: Wait...Shep's does. Kasumi's forced to attack with hers while Shep can go running halfway across the battlefield. (like far far away from that stupid laser multi husk bastard).

Biotics do not do even half of what armor can do. When squaddies are running around hazardous enviornments biotic bubbles don't do SQUAT. It doesn't stop poison from sticking to their skin, it doesn't protect them from radiation (unless biotics got an upgrade from ME1 which I doubt), it doesn't do a lot of the things that armor is capable of.

so yes I have an issue with people not wearing actual armor when my adept Shep by comparison is fully suited up.

I'm glad someone else here gets it, and still remembers ME1 lore.

Well Miri got the appearance mod for a reason, and i do agree on her front that she coulda used some more plating, still. She's got the biotics for a reason.

Point being, Lessons learned in feedback from ME2 should logically carry over into ME3.
Armor being a mayor part of that as there's also been a lot of feedback on the companion armor no longer being looted like in ME1 and opinions being split about that being a good or a bad thing.

On my end, I don't really care. I can see the merit in both, and I do think the personalized characteristic armor works well for the squaddies in ME2.

If you are arguing this from a lore perspective than actually biotics would, for the most part, stay out of the battle. They get exhausted easily and connot maintain barriers or attack easily without overworking their nervous system. Even the best of the best, which miranda certainly is not in regards to biotics, have to be careful not to tax themselves.

Which is what light armor is for. It offers light protection against light arms fire, shrapnel, the elements and in return accomodates the biotics needs to keep him effective in the field. In lore at least, biotics would be using their shields far more than their barriers.

I can concede jack and samara as exceptions to the rule, but everyone else? I have to justify them somehow. Like thane, another biotic. Thane wears a leather jacket. He has to keep his chest exposed at all times, and he is not trained to be a frontline fighter. As such he does not need armor, but conversely I never bring him along because he is indeed not supposed to be fighting on the front lines in the first place. In fact his recruitment and loyalty missions support this, neither are in direct combat situtations are always urban with thane constantly hidden. He is a great example at a character being excused for ridiculous dresswear.

Miranda was not anywhere near as easy to justify, but at least she too was not a frontline fighter (and as there are only three people ever outside at a time I didn't need an officer, ever.) Still yet, even with story justification her outfit just did not seem anything but ridiculous, and I could find no way to justify it other than to accept that miranda (actually whoever designed her outfit) wanted her to look silly.

And as ADlegend pointed out above, if the characters are being designed toward their personality what does this say about ashley? Even before combat the outfit doesn't look that great and in no way looks like a uniform, especially compared to all the other uniforms in the ME series so far. (I guess an asari wanted to try to make a human uniform and failed) I also fail to see why ashley would look like this on the normandy during the APOCOLYPTIC WAR OF SURVIVAL but am willing (barely) to suspend my disbelief at ashely putting so much stock in beauty off hours on the normandy while the galaxy burns. :pinched:

Its just frustrating to see bioware take this route. I do dearly hope my fears are for naught, then you can call all this pointless whining, but until then I am just going to have to vent my frustrations at the general direction bioware has been taking.

I like all your post but with one little correction: Miranda *is* better than the average human biotic. I'd place her far above Jacob but still lower than Shep (due to Cerberus tweaking. I'm pretty sure Cerberus used the intel from jack's creation (and other experiments on human biotics) on him/her so he/she would probably be close in strength without the neural degredation flaw) and Jack.

Since when was she stealthy?

And sniper of the group? Uh no. That's Garrus' title. Always has been always will be.

Don't forget thane or legion. Ashley isn't an infiltrator, she is a soldier. I don't see why should would suddenly start getting all stealthy when neither nihilus, vasir, saren, or shep was that way, and when they were they didn't start wearing that leather suit. :/

The companion armor is linked to their global image and part of their defining look.

And therein lies the problem with Ashley's new "image".

Oh sure they're snipers. But they're not *the* sniper. That role is Garrus' he was there first :P. (or Shep's if he/she is an infitrator).

Though Spectres *can* be stealthy (Shep's whole mission about chasing Saren was supposed to be a stealthy one...even if Shep was about as stealthy as rampaging pink elephants).

I know, but I was referring to how miranda stacks up to the super"human" levels of the other biotics in the team. But thanks for reminding me of jacob, I keep forgetting about the poor guy.

her two weapons are AR and SR. and in your game she might be your sniper, but oin mine she's THE sniper. Garrus is an AR guy.

Poor Jacob. :crying:

Though in power levels I'd probably go like this from weakest to strongest:

Jacob
Thane
Miranda
Shepard
Jack
Liara
Samara/Morinth (they also seem to be pretty close in power level).

@AD: Garrus is my sniper rifle guy always and forever. Only time he has a AR is if Shep's fighting in close quarters. Though I'm pretty meh about Ash using a sniper rifle to begin with.

Yes because this totes isn't armor:

If that wasn't Shepard, you wouldn't be seeing any practical armor.

Hypothetical.
See I'm easy, I'll see where this'll go and most likely be happy regardless.
As to Ashley, assuming they stick with the personalised look for companions out of ME2, Ashley logicly would get an overhaul. And while vanity doesn't suit her, it for instance also doesn't really suit me, then again I still like to look good.

But agreed, overhauls within reason, still I see little reason to stress if they've said they're getting multiple outfits and we've just seen the one atm.

Which is why all of ashley's personal cutscenes involve use of her assault rifle in soldier gear while garrus was set up in a snipers nest providing overwatch. :bandit:

well, it's too late then, isn't it? There's no point in caring afterwards, at all.

DLC. Granted, proper clothing should be implemented before the game is finished, not after. I see no reason to complain as of right now because of how little we've seen of Ashley. Maybe because I have a "this could be worse but it isn't" attitude towards the whole situation.

...Pretty sure Ash's armor wouldn't save her either if Shep decided to take her out. Neither would her newly gained "stealth" and speed. She'd be just as dead as the others. Except Shep would have a lower armor bar to shoot down to get her there. B)B)

While armor does not convey invulnerability, it's still better than a thin layer of fabric, or nothing at all. It also has the useful purpose of stopping those things that are too slow for kinetic barriers to respond to.
