If it's that armor with the boob window? No thanks.

We don't know what the armor looks like. We've seen a couple of concept sketches, which rarely resemble whats in the game.

I can understand judging Ash's out-of-combat uniform as it was in the beta leak etc. But how are people making judgments about an outfit no one's actually seen?

I was responding to Ryzaki's post about never taking her along on a mission...

I don't know about others, though I still have my doubts about armor's existence at all - which means there's a very good possibility that the blue outfit is it (and considering a screenshot from one of the recent bioware pulse recordings where you have everyone disembarking the ship in armor and Ashley.. in her blue outfit)

but even then, I have issues with the blue outfit in general. its ugly and its very deliberately designed with "sexy" in mind.

Alright. If her armor is like the concept except the boob window? I'll take her along. But as it is now the only thing I have is her blue outfit, a red version of said blue outfit (which while fine for not being in combat I wouldn't have her running away from Thresher Maws with me) and nothing but their words that "she has a female version of Kaidan's alliance armor." Okay so does female version just mean like femshep with boob slots? Or does it mean needless clevage and heels? And BW's defensive attitude towards her outfit at first makes me think they did consider that fine armor for Ash until the forum backlash.

Or you can quit your ****ing since you DON'T know about her character therefore your assumptions are jsut that assumptions. you don't know what her character is in the final version. She has sex appeal, she had it in ME1. She, like everyone, has new clothes and looks different in the graphics engine. Still doesn't change that she's a badass Spectre and an Alliance Commander. she will not take crap from you, Shepard, or anyone else. That has not changed.

I know her character every bit as well as you do. I know also that her original writer left.

I also know how silly outfits looked in ME2, and how much choice players didn't have with them.

I know Ash had sex appeal in ME1.  I romanced her in every playthrough.

I also know that while she may be a bad**** Spectre and Alliance Commander, her outfit doe not say so.  It says quite the opposite, in fact.  Ash is a Specte and a marine.. All the outfit says is "I'm female"

Well OK except there have been dev statements saying Ash wears armor. :?

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. You hate it, I like it, which opinion is more valid? Who should BW try to please?

As for needless cleavage and heels with armor...yeah, no one knows. I know this is BSN and over-the-top reactions are standard. But let me repeat- NO ONE KNOWS. So how about we withold judging the armor till we actually, I dunno, see it?

That wasn't armor.  That was concept art for her uniform.  Sadly, boob window aside, I think it looks better than the blue outfit she's been given.  Replace the gap with a Spectre logo and I'd say it was fine.

We haven't seen the armor yet, and like jeweledleah, I'm skeptical she was originallt meant to have any.   I mean, she's a woman, what's she need armor for?  That's not pretty,  amiright?

More likely they're still scrambling to put something together.

Wait...that's what that was? *small hope goes down the toilet*

*groans*

Oh ra. Why didn't they keep that?

And agreeded at the last statement. With Miranda the backlash hit too late for it to be anything but DLC but at least with Ash it was caught early.

@Holy: maybe if I actually *saw* her in some armor I wouldn't care. As it now I've seen every known squaddie in armor save her.

A. Unless the noise that's been made on these forums has convinced the designers that it's not something Ashley would choose to wear in a life-or-death firefight, that blue thing is still something we will see her wear during combat.

B. That Ash fans haven't yet seen the armor for themselves is one thing that fuels such judgements. All due respect to them, but the devs haven't yet offered anything but unfulfilled promises and have done little to assuage our worries that key qualities of Ashley's character as established in Mass Effect haven't been forgotten in order to shoehorn yet more sex appeal into Mass Effect 3.

For what it's worth, both Casey Hudson and Jessica Merizan said Ash would "armor and helmet similar to Shepard's". It will not be the dark-colored boob-window outfit in the concept art. However, we still need a screenshot.

They've been saying that, but until they show instead of tell, there's still going to be concern. Their recent track record isn't very encouraging.

ugly may be in the eye of the beholder, but sexualized is not.  there were plenty of people who loved Miranda's original outfit.  didn't make it any less sexualized.

Ashley's outfit has heels, narrowed wedge hills with what appears to be a triangulal cutout in the center.  it has V-neck pointing at her cleavage.  it has multiple tailored decorative darts on each side of her chest, all pointing to said cleavage.  it has colorblocking that's contrasted enough to make it look like her hips are wider, her wasteline is narrower.  the lighter blue insert on her back is quite litteraly an arrow pointing at her ass.  and the jacket ends just bellow it.  her pants are white, which almost creates illusion of skin.  she wears thigh high boots, with continuous "seams" going down the front and back of her leg... as if they are stockings.  even what armor pieces she has on her - accentuate the hips and shoulders in a way that creates even more of an illusion of hourglass.  the texture is that of shiny leather, which makes her outfit look even more like fetish/club wear, and makes it look most skintight.

I would like a screenshot. We've seen Vega, and Liara in both their default armor (Salarian homeplanet/Tuckanka) and the AA outfit (on the poster with everyone else in their AA outfits). Only known squaddie who is suspiciously missing armor is Ash. (Tali wears armor by default, we've seen Garrus in armor as well) Unless of course said blue outfit is supposed to be her armor. Then...=]

Yup.  Black outfit w/Specte logo would have been great.

Afraid I don't know how to do the Twitter link thing, but Casey hudson was asked about armor;

when you said "full armor" for Ashley, you meant "except for the boobs, of course!", right?

Those are all clothing concepts. Ashley has full armor and helmet similar to Shepard's, which I don't think have been shown yet.

*slams head multiple times against desk*

They had a great looking professionally looking outfit...and traded it for that getup.

Why?

WHY?!?

Boob window could've been covered by scarf like thing (or like you said by putting the Spectre Logo over it).

Yes I agree, I too would like a screenie. But I'm not going to disbelieve a dev statement on existence of said armor.

JeweledLeah...again, I don't mind the outfit. Sue me.

 Can't blame you for hopign!

I have to say Ash looks far more like a BAMF in that outfit than her current one. *le sigh*

I miss when the only thing about her outfit I disliked was that it was white and pink( and that was easily changed).

That is the intended effect. They're a dose of beige away from matching her skin tone, and they're sucked so tight to her skin that they may as well be body paint.

I'm more or less completely convinced by now that they never had the intention of putting her in any kind of armor besides the blue thing she's wearing in all the pictures we've seen so far. There is actually nothing suggesting otherwise to be honest.

Very much agreed.

The depressing thing, to me, is that even if they've had enough sense knocked into them by the backlash, they're still 99.999% likely to give us an alternate armor we have to swap her into. Which given what we've seen of her introduction in ME3 means we're stuck watching her prance around in the blue thing for a full damn mission and half a dozen cutscenes where it's blatantly inappropriate regardless. Like being stuck with Miranda in latex on Freedom's Progress even after getting the AA pack.

I'm sure someone will be able to make a decent TexMod to help a bit, people did wonders with Miranda and Samara, but in the end we can only do so much with textures; the ME franchise is fundamentally unmoddable in a lot of ways, and there's no hope at all for console players.
