Er, your post made little sense, considering you directly implied that, just because its a game, its military would deviate that far from regulations and decorum. Bioware has rooted much of this story in real life, and the Alliance military operates very much, if not identical to how most militaries do now. (Considering its a direct branch of a future version of the militaries we DO have in the present.) Meaning its regulations against makeup and such are identical.
And you'll get crap for it, because you (Like your friend AD with his obnoxious Snape GIF.) seem to either misinterpret or blow what people like myself, Nashiktal, Godwood, and many others post, our of proportion. Usually to either demonize and/or discredit our views and opinions.
Yes, Ashley Williams is Bioware's property, and they're free to write her as they wish, but that doesn't stop the fact that official sources can screw up their own lore. Its called retconning, among other things. Something that Bioware has been accused of in the past. That, and considering Ash's chief writer left the project, the idea is more realistic than you'd think. But even more to the point, if you'd care to actually read some of these posts, you'd find that many (Including myself.) of us "Forumongers," have stated that "As of right now," no logical, story driven reasons for such dramatic changes have been given, and that until such things appear, many people feel justified in their objections.
Regardless of the inane masses that find it much easier to "Play it cool," and accept such things at face value, without offering anything in the way of articulate debates and/or sound reasons to counter our logical observations.
I completely understand your point of view. You don't like that Ashley's 'getup' is overtly sexualized. While I may not agree, I do think your opinion is not baseless. I am not out here to demonize you or any of the other guys you listed, or to attempt to discredit you. Discrediting on the internet is basically impossible what with the whole anonymous thing. As for the lack of a story-driven reason, I think they just said that the blue suit is Alliance officer issue, although that may have more to do with an attempt to make the squaddies stick out from the rank and file. If she was going to go out into combat like that, I'd be more inclined to complain, but I prefer to assume the combat armor will be a bit more
armored. The loss of Ash's writer is kind of worrying, but I have read the spoilers and it appears from the small amount of dialogue her personality is intact, so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. This is merely my opinion, which I am giving, same as you.
