Jeez I thought I was a hardcore role player. You guys actually do it so intensely you'd rather look at an unattractive woman (why? for the 'real' factor?) instead of looking at an attractive one who's done nothing to change her character but improve the way she looks?

I just don't understand, ex: would you want your semi-ugly girlfriend to stay semi-ugly and not try and become more attractive? I'd hope not. Sure I could understand if they gave Ash a combat suit like Miranda's, but she's a soldier, she's going to be wearing armor worthy of her class. All that's happened is she is more appealing to look at. And I don't think her doing it for the simple reason of 'because she wanted to look more attractive' is unrealistic or unreasonable. You'll be hard pressed to find a girl who doesn't care about what she looks like.

That's what's realistic. I don't think this is a change of character. She's a spectre now, not just some grunt marine. She's an important person, and knows her appearance as a female is now going to be viewed by more than just her platoon.

As I said, I like to RP as much as the next guy. But if I have a choice, I'll choose attractive female characters over less attractive versions of themselves every time.

Then again, maybe I'm just a sucker for a pretty lady.

Oh  see there was a Memo that went out... it was called  Real women never wear dresses.  Now that not to say there  are not some legimate concerns but if you read that article it will make some sense.  Even through Bioware has stated  time and time again that everyone will have armor  there still seems to be the backlash.  Like some how a strong, intelliegent competent woman can't also be attractive or have the desire to at least not look she is cover in alien  god knows what everyday.  Everyone is  up in arms from seeing in the Trailer in her civies  busting Shepard out the trail... maybe hold on here this is a little crazy  she did not have time to get her armor on. Ya know like the US solider in Afganistan  that was in the middle of the fire fight with his pink "I love NY boxers."

Well allow me to provide my version of the answer to "why does Ashley look radically different in ME3?"

Well, it's obvious, isn't it?? Ash realized her hidden potential as a supermodel and so she decided to undergo plastic surgery and helping of Botox to reclaim her lost beauty from years of futile hard work in the military.
--------------------------------------
Bioware ABSOLUTELY destroyed Ashley for us, at least for me. She was my most favorite human character in the Mass effect universe. Turned her into a sex doll... and I haven't even started what the developers were planning her fate...story-wise!! I never thought I'd say it but I wish I'd nuked her in Virmire: better "killing " her when our memories didn't turn acid sour...

I didn't think a longer hairstyle could be such a radical difference of character to people. Shallow much?

Who's to say that she didn't do anything more (hair-wise) than simply unbraid it?  If she were short-haired in ME1, then there'd be a point...

The longer hairstyle of her does not bother me, jreezy. What does is that Bioware seems to have the intention of turning Ash into the second Miranda! Hell, the way she's portrayed in ME3 so far, she's ready to take her over by storm!! Did you see the pic where Ash apparently wears a panty with her "combat jumpsuit" where her buttocks are sticking out??? I mean what the hell, man!! Why dump it on Ash like this, Bioware? Where's the continuity of her character traits?? Just because she is a fictional character doesn't mean the developers can change her taste clothing (and more importantly her relationship with Shepard...couch...leaked beta scripts...major heartbreak...cough) like this. I mean, where did her pride-to-wear-full-armor-as-a-pure-soldier go? And now she's supposed to be a Spectre where she can count on a bloodbath or two in her "regular" assignments... oh wait, he reapers are coming to call... so more confirmed bloodbath...but our Ms. Williams, the self-proclaimed soldier decides to moonlight as a ramp model at these troubled times!! Pur-lease, Biowere!!

Sorry everyone if I'm sounding like a whiner but when a game developer creates one of the greatest games of all time in the sense of story, gameplay, immersion and of course intuitiveness you would not expect that spark to simply die away in the closing arc. When they could create an epic space opera like ME with so many new and innovative concepts then why do they have to revert to the good ol' strategy of pullin' the fans by displaying da physical eye-candy, especially when their new way got universal critical acclaim?? My concerns for Ash has intensified hundredfold because i got a full-scale blast of the leaked beta script concerning her part in ME3... it made me think every writer has a personal enmity with her... After all the posting in threads, after all the discussion and speculation of her (in fact both her and Alenko) behaviour in horizon... looks like devs are DETERMINED to change nothing favorably...

I should stop here... I say anything more and I'll blurt out spoilers...
-----------------------------------------------------

I am just disappointed!!! Williams deserved better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not the hair.  Not to me at least.  It's the outfit.

To me, it doesn't look practical at all, and certainly not very "stylish"  When I think of Ashley Williams in a uniform, I think of something along the lines of Susan Ivanova from Babylon 5, not one of the Robinson family from Lost in Space.

It doesn't look  military  It doesn't look like something anyone would wear and hope to be taken seriously.  Honestly, it looks like a joke concerning her feelings about "tin foil miniskirts and thigh high boots"  Only it's not a joke in good taste.

And that's aside from the fact that despite being told she'll wear armor, every single shot we've seen of her, even of her carrying a weapon, has had her in that outfit or the recolored CE version.

I've been reading articles about how feedback is being taken into account to possibly tweak the game in these final months before release.  My advice is:  Change the outfit into something more serious.  Please!  Stylish and practical are not mutually exclusive!

This just in: People change over time. More at 11.

Seriously, what's wrong with how Ashley looks? In the first game, she looked rather plain and uninteresting, but in ME3, she's got a whole new look meant to set her apart and make her aesthetically pleasing. Besides, it's even more unfair to the character to have nearly EVERYONE get a visual makeover for ME3, but leave Ashley looking the same.

And again, even if she wasn't a Specter, she could probably wear whatever the hell she wanted, since kinetic barrier technology has advanced a crap-ton in the 2 years between ME1 and 2. Armor actually helped protect you in ME1, but now the main brunt of the defense comes from stronger kinetic barriers and some bio-enhancements; Ashley could walk around in a bathrobe and be fine, if Jack can get away with wearing a belt over her chest and still take a few shots.

Do not purchase ME3 then.  I personally hate the tweaking or changing of the original SW movies, or all the god awful prequels for that matter, thus I have not purchased those DVDs nor will I in the future.

That being said, I honestly loved her look and her personality in ME1.  And I really like her look thus far, however I will pass final judgement once I play ME3.

She looks great in ME 3 and this coming from someone who hates her actions in ME 2 . People change over time and change hair styles . Ash fans need to deal with it or not buy the game simple as that

She's female, therefore she is required to look "sexy" regardless of whether it fits her character or not.

Actually, the only big change they made was to the width of her mouth. It isn't a big deal, she looks better.

Maybe Bioware wanted to udate her look for 3 and guess what they created her so they have a right to change her and her character to fit the story of ME 3

Tali and Liara don't wear character-inappropriate or ridiculous outfits. Last I checked, they're female.

Ashley always had nice ******, just no one noticed because she didn't wear a catsuit or let her hair down.

What does that even mean? What does her character have to do with this? Are you saying that because of her personality she doesn't deserve to look good? How does that make sense? What planet am I on?

If you give so much of a damn about her character, how she looks shouldn't make a damn difference.

She let her hair down and put some make-up on.....girls can do that. I still have trouble recognizing women I know sometimes. Go live on a military base for a while and see the difference in how female soldiers/marines look when they are in uniform and out of uniform.

No it's not character inappropriate or anything like that....it's just something different you haven't seen before. Believe me....real people can and do shock you sometimes by allowing you to see sides of their personality you didn't know were there even after having known them for years or decades even. People change....what's causing a major problem here is that it's a game so whenever we don't like a character change we complain to the developers instead of just dealing with it and moving on.

YES Ashley can still be a mean ass kicking machine and still look unrealistically good for the character.....people do things like that all the time in real life too.

How many topics about this outfit? the look of ashley? How long does it last? Don't even need to answer. A long long time.

Now : Did you see bioware to change a single detail, anything since the beginning you are complaining about this ?

No.  They won't change. They will allow you to change her iconic outfit, maybe a bun even if not sure, that's it. They won't burn this outfit, ( what is pretty much ridiculous because you can change, and some other people, yes you aren't alone, like this outfit ) they won't change ashley with long hair.

It might be time to understand this and stop behaving like children who think that screaming every day, it will succeed.

Ash in ME 1 and 2 was a ugly woman that had nice ****** but now in ME 3 she looks really good . Ash fans need to suck it up or change the outfit in 3 .
