In my Awakening saved import Nathaniel Howe DID NOT DIE but still i don't get the quest!!!

It's just bugged. I think if he wasn't in the party when you made the final save in Awakenings he won't show up. I had everything right but that and I couldn't get the quest. I had to manually flag it with the console. That was months ago though. If it's still bugged that's kind of sad.

Because there is no flag for upgrading the keep, if you save the city without Nate in your party, DA2 will think he is dead, same with Anders. It's very annoying and Bioware has yet to fix it

If there is no actual flag then doesn't that mean it's not a bug but a design choice? Meaning that even though the the epilogue says he survived, he is actually dead in the storyline of Dragon Age 2?
