What is the best setup for a party/ which charatcers r best for party?
currently i am using alistar, shale and the rogue chick and i am playing a mage as my main.
so i use shale and alistar to take most of the damage as me and the rogue sit back and attack from afar. is this a good tatic?
any suggestions?

Lots of make ups will work. I find that striving for high defense over high armor helps as no dmage is better than some damage. Different parts of the story work better with different characters, especially on the like/dislike your actions front. In general keep a mage around. For me using a combat mage (especially when you make it to cone of cold, or at least look for spells that incapacitate foes for a time so you can pound on them) seems to work better than a helaing specialist. I get by with the basic heal spell. The one that hel[ps against arrows is really usefull too.
Alistar is the only shield and weapon fighter you pick up (I think) . Others are two weapon types. The shield advangate is you can pick his abilities so that his shield makes him immune to flank attacks (backstabs) which comes in really handy when you get him surrounded. Shield bash can sometimes dislodge a held party member. Ogres grab, spiders pin you down, a few others must be outr there as well.
