About to adept through insanity... and I'm just wondering what assault rifle I should use (I chose the AR specialization on my last veteran runthrough).
An adept on insanity - should I use the vindicator or mattock?

i've used both. Mostly the mattock though .I remember the vindicator being fine with varren and husks to strip their armor before you can rag doll them. But i almost always preferred the mattock, and the locust with it.

Which one do you like better? As an adept both are quite functional and are probably used mainly for defense stripping anyway. It really comes down to which works better for your play style.

TBH, It's mostly personal preference. The Vindicator has a better damage modifier vs. Shields than the Mattock does, albeit only slightly. The Vindicator has a X1.25 verses all damage types, while the Mattock is X1.3 vs armor and X1.2 vs shields/barriers. Other than that, the Vindicator has a 3 round burst and the Mattock is semi-automatic only, but it can fire as fast as you can pull the trigger.
I personally think the Mattock is a bit more effective, since it has a higher base damage value, and it just feels good to me, but I've seen videos with Adepts using the Vindicator with great success. Try both, see which one feels better for you, and go with that, is my advice.
Edit: This is where I got the damage info for the ARs. If this info is incorrect, someone let me know so I won't use it for reference in the future.

The Mattock is the most powerful, but I'm tired of it by now, so I'll vote for Vindicator. Brilliant weapon and requires less frantic clicking. It has better precision as well, whereas the Mattock isn't always a guaranteed headshot at long range before the precision upgrade.
Personally I prefer the GPS for my adepts.

At first I liked the Mattock for all the damage, But then I tried the Vindicator and it became my favorite. I like the way it pulse fires and its accuracy.

Nobody should use the Mattock. That's just my opinion, no need to spread it around.

I dislike the Mattock on any class, not least on my favourite class. It feels less like a videogame weapon and more like a joke or a developer tool - it's so unbalanced that it renders all heavy pistols, other assault rifles, some sniper rifles and some shotguns totally redundant.
That said, on an Adept I'd actually say the Vindicator was just a better option. You can spend more time aiming and less time bashing the hell out of the trigger, and you have the Tempest or Locust to cover your full-auto needs.
That said, I prefer the Revenant on the Adept, but that's only possible via modding

The Mattock is far far stronger than the Vindicator. The only reasons to use the Vindy over it is if you like the Vindy or find the Mattock unfair.
