So, did anyone dress up for Halloween this year, whether for a party, taking the kiddos out trick-or-treating, or just for fun?

Me, I didn't have a lot of time/resources to make a costume. Originally, I was going to be a Dalish elf, but I didn't have the latex ears around and I just can't be an elf without 'em. Not to mention, my features are pretty rounded and I'm short - I'd therefore probably fit a dwarf better. So, I got out the face paints and a scrap of fabric from an old school project my roommate did and used it to make a last-minute dwarf commoner costume. Photo will come once I fish it out of my camera. =]

Anybody else got something good to share with us? Share photos if you got 'em/want to - especially if they're DA:O related!

Nice pumpkin. But yea I just basically played Call Of Duty: World At War/Left 4 Dead and helped my folks with the kids at the door.

Can't see the photo; don't have a Facebook account. :( Think you can post a photo directly to the forum? :P

Anyway, here's my last minute dwarf commoner costume:

By the time this photo was taken, the fake blood splatter I had on my face had dried a lot and looked more like a skin rash than blood, heh. Still, you can't have a Dragon Age costume without attempting to splatter yourself with fake blood, right?

I look so weird without my glasses...  But I digress! Any other costumes?

(I really should just make a blog post about this and link everyone to it when it comes up. XD Not snipping at you or anything - it's just something a lot of people haven't learned yet, and I'm often one of the people who tries to answer).

You take the link to the image (find the link by right-clicking the image, and choose either "View Image" to see it by itself and copy the address there; or click "Image Properties" to find the address link to it in the window that pops up).

Once you have a link to an image, you simply put [ img ][ /img ] tags around the link, but without the spaces.

For example, say I have an image found at http://i8.photobucke...ngercompare.jpg To have that show on the board, I'd put [ img ]http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a21/sbanzai/rangercompare.jpg[ / img ] in my message (again, without the spaces in the img tags). The end result is this:

Very nice! Did you carve from scratch, or did you make/find a template?

I just picked some art from the DAO website and did it myself using a dremmel tool and fillet knife.

^ Argh, looks like site lag is leading to lots of double posting.

Nice, how long did it take to carve?

I dressed up as a Dalish Elf and spent a great deal of the late evening/night crossing blades with Jack Sparrow. The markings on my face are smudged and faded now, but still there as I liked them so much I couldn't bear to wash them off before I went to bed (some time after 3am) or this afternoon when I woke up. I actually didn't have any ear tips but a friend lent me some for the occasion, having dressed as Spock in the past.

I actually think that, er... item of clothing you wore is pretty cool. I would think it must be kinda tough to be a dwarf, especially as a girl, since they aren't that different to humans in appearance. You did well.

I like the pumpkin as well. Awesomeness.

Ha ha, sounds awesome! Did you make up a design, or base one off of the character creator tattoo options?

Thanks! ^_^ As I said before, it helps being a bit round in the face and short. As for the "item of clothing," it's just the remains of a Fabric Dyeing project my roommate had lying around and insisted I use so I didn't have to walk around in my t-shirt and jeans.

Actually it was based off the artwork. You know, the one on the wallpaper/poster/dalish elf page? If I had better equipment and more muscles, I would have looked quite like that guy.:D As it happens, I didn't have a scabbard, quiver, arrows or armour, so I just went with some plain brown trousers and a pale green shirt/buttoned jacket that I found in my wardrobe, and my best belt and took two short scimitar-like swords (plastic, not real metal...) which I thought looked sort of Dalish to me, plus a horn. Turned out Captain Jack forgot to bring his cutless, and his ship (worst pirate I've ever seen :P Although actually his costume was quite good) so I had to lend him one of my weapons.

Well, I'm maybe a bit tall to be an elf, if the heights in the character creator are anything to go by. Good job you didn't end up in jeans, I say! Great for casual use but on a fantasy character, they stick out like a darkspawn at a chantry service. That's assuming they do services. My lore-knowing isn't perfect.^_^

Anyway, this is going towards a conversation rather than a discussion. I don't think that's what the forum's for.:)

I was a tooth fairy...with my own twist on it, of course.

I got a blue "Generic ethnic princess" costume that was supposed to be for a kid. Threw out the pants part and just wore the top. The front and back reached down to just above my knees (would probably have touched the floor on a child) but the side slit came up really high so I had to wear a bathing suit bottom underneath. Added a black, triple-buckled waist belt to add some form since it was cut to just hang down and top it off with 4" f***-me boots. (Not intending to attract anyone, they just made my legs look awesome-er, plus really helped tie the motif together)

Accessories included a fairy star wand strapped to my thigh and my "tooth retrieval instrument" (read: giant cleaver, with a viciously jagged edge. $2.99 from Value Village!)

And then around mid-night my bestie and I got it into our heads to switch costumes. He got the dress et all (except the boots) - becoming a much hairier fairy - and I transformed into an 80s aerobic instructor. Black, laughably short-shorts and matching zip-sweater.
