Here's the problem. My profile page is currently set so that "All Users" can view it. However, as for the section which says "Who can post comments to my profile?", I set and saved it to "Only My Friends and Their Friends Within The Subnetwork", so to block out unwanted comments from people I don't know.

As of today, this is clearly not the case, because my latest status update has a comment from a stranger who has exactly 0 friends but somehow managed to go through. Would appreciate a fix for it. Although not exactly an invasion of privacy, it feels strange and annoying especially when I've already set a filter for it, only to be jarred by this discovery. Not sure if others have the same problem.

Also, using Firefox with Windows Vista, but I don't think it's a problem with my PC or settings. Thanks.

I think that setting refers specifically to comments made directly on the profile. I suspect it would require a lot of resources to cross-reference users' privacy settings everytime the front page is refreshed, which would be necessary to figure out who can see who and whether they have permission to comment (for instance, as long as you broadcast actions you will always show up under Everyone).

Hmmmm. It just seems odd to me that there would be one filter setting available for one aspect but not another (i.e. if you wouldn't want someone posting a comment straight to your profile page, certainly you wouldn't want them commenting on your status update either). That would seem like a very strange oversight, if that is the case.

*waits patiently for a web developer explanation, if there is any forthcoming*

It does, on the comments tab. However, it could possibly be worded slightly differently, because at first I had the same confusion over it that Amber does now.

There's the option to remove individual comments from status updates, too. I'd recommend that.

Not necessarily...
