I wasn't sure where to put this since you could classify the ending of the Alistair romance as a spoiler for those of us out there who have not played Dragon Age yet.

Yeah, I'm sure all of us has seen this topic a many of times before lol My bad. I'm just having a weird glitch.. type.. thing this time around while I've been romancing him. I was replaying the game so I could have the "perfect" Dragon Age data for future games including DA2 when I replay it again, and I came across something weird. It's like he's been hardened already.. even though I hadn't done his personal quest at the time.

I tried the "kiss him" option at random for fun before they had even confessed to each other yet and he let her, just like that, with the response "Oh, but what about our audience? Well, all right then!".. and I was like huh? I played it off and reloaded the file and continued on as if it never happened. But now I'm at the point where she did sleep with him and he's still doing the hardened response.. even though I did do his personal quest this time and completed it the "Unhardened" way.. I really wanted him to be unhardened for my file, and now it's got me thinking is he going to continue responding to storyline quests like this? (Even though I know he isn't much different, it still makes a difference to me lol)

I still have the frostback mountains and the urn of sacred ashes to complete yet, so I've got a while left of the game yet.. should I just restart all over again and hope this glitch doesn't repeat? (I've never noticed it happen before)

I don't think this is a bug. According to the toolset, that is always his response when you try to kiss him when you are not in camp and there is more than 2 people in the party. It doesn't depend on him being Hardened or Unhardened at all.

Really? Whenever I've always tried to he wouldn't let me..at all. Max approval and everything, until yesterday. I've only ever been able to after he was hardened.

That's really strange then.. hmmm... good to know my whole file hasn't been glitched then lol, So nothings wrong then? He's still "normal"? Haha. Thanks for the quick reply.

According to the toolset, he doesn't have to be hardened, but he does have to be at the level of 'Care' or higher. I know that I have been able to kiss him at that level or higher whether or not he is hardened.  And if his approval is 'Warm' or 'Friendly', he won't kiss you - it has to be 'Care', 'Adore', or 'Love' (which means that the romance has been initiated).  Maybe you had max approval, but he was Warm or Friendly?

Yeah I'm thinking so.. it was a long while back now that I think about it so I didn't know much about his romance thing back then, I just know that I tended to stay away from the option from then on out so that's probably why I thought it was only a hardened thing (I started using the option after his quest) Ok, thanks for that!
