So the question is simple. Are you willing to accept a few spoilers to see more RPG elements ?

All I want for ME3 is lots of action, orchestral music with guitars on top, more action and heavy armor. That is all I care about.
The sarcasm is strong with this one. But seriously, we've already had a look at the power customisation and we've been told about weapon customisation too. Do any of the newer posters read the Known Features thread? Or is it just that these people are actually just all out to troll?

Bolded: The second one...
@Phaedon : AWESOME POST N POINTS and I agree totally...but what I will say is that the lack of information that we have been given on anything NON multi-player related is so few and far inbetween that is frustrating so I do understand where some of these complaints arecoming from...

If all you have been getting is MP info, then that's your (I don't mean you, specifically) own problem. In fact, there are several things that are still on the air concerning MP. There's a big stickied thread called "Known Features". You guys might want to visit it a bit more often.
Or the Powers thread. If some people here saw it, they would stop complaining and try to stay more in touch with ME3 news.

The only thing they could show without any spoilers would be armor/weapon customization ( which we´ve partly seen in the demo).

I am assuming that that's what his reply is directed towards. He is just taking a topic leap from there, discussing how they could show any RPG Elements without causing spoilers.iakus wrote...

I mean, saying that "Showing RPG Elements without any spoilers" is a "no-go" and then going on and describing a few examples of the opposite doesn't make that much sense.

I'm of the opinion that any other changes will be minor, very very minor. All of the news has convinced me the focus of the game was combat in preparation for multiplayer. Overshadowing the rpg aspects and advancements that should have been made.

If I hadn't known before-hand that this were a Bioware game, I probably wouldn't be interested at all in what I've seen. It really has been the same stuff shown repeatedly.
Exactly this. When this is all you see you don't know any better.
It's like they are intentionally going out of their way to make Mass Effect look like one of the most 'bargain-bin'-bound dumb bland third-rate mindless generic boring me-too looking shooter series I have probably ever seen going purely on the footage shown so far to the public which is really sad given how much we love this series and it is clearly anything but and when the shooting mechanics are passable at best... this is a terrible marketing strategy to have with this franchise. Nobody REALLY plays Mass Effect for the combat... If you want to spend all day shooting people in the face Mass Effect 3 is not really for you.
And when you constantly repeat the same footage over and over again you drive this message into the game buying publics subconscious. Immediately you start lumping it in with the 8 hour campaigns and the $20 dollar map packs. That's not a nice place to be.
People take the effort to go to gaming conventions and read gaming publications to discover new experiences... no body has ever bought or sold a game because it looks like a rip off of something else; especially when that something it goes against the grain of where it's true strengths lie.

Once had a relationship with a guy and one day who I was trying to teach how to play pencil and paper D&D... he wasn't liking it though...
I tried to encourage him by suggesting maybe we could "roleplay" after I taught him how to roleplay in D&D....
It flew right over his head.... suffice it to say that relationship ended rather abruptly.

That alone reassured me that Bioware wasn't tossing the ME 2 background in pursuit of 'the new players'. Even Mordin showed up, and he seemed to have a fairly significant role in the femme fatale Krogan retrieval, which tells me that his absence, if the old bugger caught one in the chest, would change atleast that mission in ME 3.
RPG elements, folks!

That said, there are ways they could show off things like dialogue and choice consequences. Didn't Conrad Verner make an appearance in a ME2 trailer or vid? His presence in ME2 wasn't really a spoiler, but showing a conversation with a minor returning character like that would be a great way to show how the great RPG stuff that's been there since the first game is still there. It would hopefully put to rest this ridiculous "concern" that Bioware is suddenly going to change the formula of the game for the series finale.

lol that is just some panicky negative nancies that are worried because they said ME 3 will be a good starting point for newcomers. Nowhere does that statement indicate that long time fans are getting ripped off though some panicky negative nancies interpreted it that way.

That's putting it mildly. Were you dating an Elcor, Hathur. It seems he didn't get subtleties of your message.

Oh man, attack matrixes are the bane of all things that make combat move along. THAC0 was nice, d20 was better. And you could totally miss the point by looking at all the data. Totally.

Ugh, THAC0 was a horridly annoying system... much preferred the d20 ruleset in 3.0 / 3.5 ... and don't get me started on how horrible the saving throw system was in AD&D... grrr!
I was always bad at math and subtractive negatives in AD&D to calculate THAC0 always just.... ugh... brain pain.....
Well I'lve thoroughly gone off topic... my apologies.
